I was going for “You Can See Everything” as the film of the year, but after today “La Bola Negra” deserves everything!!

I couldn't help but wonder while watching this movie how much of the poetry in these dialogues was lost in translation. Especially Lorca's poem that ties all three timelines together.

have basically been stumbling over my words trying to articulate how much this moved and meant me for the past half hour and still no closer to coherence but what i can clearly say is this is not only my movie of the year by far beyond any shadow of a doubt but also just one of the best i think i’ve ever seen period. and i don’t care how hyperbolic that sounds because seeing queer love, loss, desire, repression, and every other emotion of ours in between depicted on such an epic, sweeping, and decade-spanning scale like this and given the weight and depth our stories have always deserved to drive home just how much our lives matter and how unjust our suffering in silence has always been had me in tears on and off for two hours straight. the la nieve scene is instant cinema history.
“i think it can help people like me and like you but younger.”
“help them how?”
“so they don't end up like me and you.”
