President Cyril Ramaphosa has again threatened to resign as ANC President citing the fact that the ANC cannot suffer two consecutive elections defeats without any consequences for him & his Top 7 leadership collective. His best work so far includes overseeing the drop from 57.5% in 2019 to 40.2% in 2024 (in the provincial & national government elections), and the local government elections regression from 49.9% in 2021 to the shocking 36.9% registered in the Nov 04 elections this year. His inner circle members of the Top 7 have however urged him not to resign because he is presumably doing a fabolous job, & his early departure “would be catastrophic for the ANC”. It’s unclear what else could be more catastrophic than losing elections so dismally. Anyways, his inner circle members who have allegedly begged him not to resign include Paul Mashatile, Fikile Mbalula & Maropene Ramokgopa (even though both Paul & Fikile are touted as his ambitious successors & will be battling it out at the 56th ANC elective conference orgies in Dec 2027. Paul could warm the seat till then— whilst obviously attending to his own mysterious ill-health issues…). There’s another concern that Cyril’s unceremonious resignation could spell the end of the GNU—which would presumably upset the Gravy Train passengers from the DA, IFP, PA, GOOD, PAC, FF+, UDM, ALJAMA, & RISE Mzansi.
