🇨🇳🇺🇸 China has bought gold for 22 STRAIGHT months, smashing its previous record of 18 months.
The central bank added 20 tonnes in August, the largest monthly purchase since October 2023, bringing total reserves to 2,387 tonnes.
Purchases accelerated 17x this year, from roughly 1 tonne in January to 20 tonnes in August.
In the same period, China's US Treasury holdings fell to $618 BILLION, an 18-year low, down from a peak above $1.3 TRILLION.
89% of central banks now expect global gold reserves to keep rising, per the World Gold Council.
📊 Odds of a 0.25% Fed rate hike early Thursday morning:
- CME: 94.5%
- Kalshi: 87%
- Polymarket: 89%
At this point, keeping rates unchanged would be the real surprise; the market has all but priced in a Fed rate hike!
As for the crypto market, Bitcoin and altcoins are seeing slight declines ahead of the vote on the CLARITY Act in the US. This is due to a lack of consensus between the Democratic and Republican parties regarding proposals in the final draft.
