Data Republican’s past work in Ukraine for a company started by “the Bill Gates of the Urals,” serial entrepreneur, software engineer, and ACM ICPC veteran, recruiter, and sponsor from St. Petersburg whose past business co-founders have ties to YANDEX.
🇷🇺 in 🇺🇦 SNAP INC & LOOKSERY
Jennica Pounds (@DataRepublican) managed Snap Inc.’s large “Ukrainian engineering team” (from the 2015 Looksery app acquisition that was developed in Odessa and SOCHI 🇷🇺) as Principal Software Engineer and Director of Software Engineering in Snap Lab. CEO Evan Spiegel arranged private extraction contractors to help “evacuate team members” during the 2022 invasion.
Shaburov sold Looksery to Snap Inc. (owner of Snapchat) for $150M . About 25% of shares went to the company’s top managers and technical team for startups. Shaburov became a Snap Inc. co-owner (Pounds worked for in Odessa) via shares. Looksery was removed from app stores; its features integrated into Snapchat.
🇷🇺 VICTOR SHABUROV
Looksery’s real-time face-tracking technology (foundation of Snapchat Lenses) was co-founded by Russian-born Victor Shaburov (b. 1977, Yekaterinburg).
Victor Shaburov won several Math Olympiads in school and later the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). He attended the Specialized Educational and Research Center of Ural State University (now SESC of Ural Federal University), then transferred to St. Petersburg State University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics (MatMech), graduating with honors in 1999.
—> Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev - Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St Petersburg University.
In 2016, twice ICPC world champion and Roem.ru founder Yuri Sinodov congratulated his colleagues:
“The sponsors of the St. Petersburg University team are Kontakte and Viktor Shaburov (Everyone knows about the Kontakte Olympiad participants, and Victor has already sponsored one team, which became the backbone of the Looksery project, bought by Snapchat last year for $150M).”
Shaburov today remains heavily invested in sponsoring AMC ICPC Olympiads via Botan Investments, spending about $200K annually.
🧮Victor Shaburov uses the AMC ICPC Olympiads to recruit talent for his startups:
▶️St. Petersburg State University (SPbU) is a frequent ICPC winner—where Shaburov met his SPB business partner Filippov in 1999.
▶️Alexander Mashrabov and Grigory Tkachenko (both 🇷🇺 Russian)— previously at YANDEX, started AI Factory based in Sochi, which was also sold to Snap Inc in 2019.
▶️Yuri Monastyrshin 🇺🇦 recruited by Shaburov in 2014, after holding 2 open programming competitions at the Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University.
🇷🇺 SPB Software House - YANDEX Shell
In 1999 in St. Petersburg, Victor Shaburov co-founded SPB Software House on Rubinshteina Street with Vasily Filippov, who competed for the SPbU team at the 1999 ACM-ICPC World Finals.
YANDEX acquired SPB Software in November 2011 for approximately $38.4M (retention incentives for founders to stay 1–2 years). Named SPB founders who continued at Yandex:
🇩🇪 Sebastian-Justus Schmidt — SPB CEO. Appointed EVP Mobile and General Manager at Yandex.
🇷🇺 Vasily Filippov — SPB COO. Headed mobile distribution/related roles at Yandex before founding MEL Science.
🇷🇺 Yaroslav Goncharov — SPB CTO. Remained at Yandex until around 2013; later founded FaceApp.
🇷🇺 Olga Steidl — SPB CMO/VP. Confirmed founders would continue at Yandex.
Yandex leadership at acquisition:
🇷🇺 Arkady Volozh — CEO and co-founder (announced the deal, citing mobile as key growth strategy).
🇷🇺 Ilya Segalovich — co-founder (with Volozh).
Shaburov’s later path included a company (acquired by Opera Software), Looksery (~$150M Snap exit), AI Factory (acquired by Snap for Cameos), engineering leadership at Snap, and investing via Botan Investments. Shaburov lives in Gibraltar 🇬🇮 and holds a Cypriot 🇨🇾 nationality.

I actually managed a Ukrainian team at the time of the Russian invasion. The cost was real and Evan hired paramilitary forces to rescue his employees. I will never, ever forgive Putin for the human cost he created.
That said, there’s zero realistic path to victory that doesn’t involve pulling the US in a real risk of nuclear war. And there are a lot of interests invested in making sure Ukraine remains a meat grinder so they themselves don’t have to confront Russian costs. I wish more Ukrainians would realize that.

🎙️The Russian intelligence front's stated goal is "information warfare" via a "FAMILY OF PODCASTS"
"Elizabeth Lane," a Charlie Kirk assassination conspiracy theorist who RT recently named as one of its "correspondents," released another interview with Stanislav Krapivnik about Ukraine.
Krapivnik is a former U.S. Army officer and member of the Moscow-based International Club of National Unity (known as MKNE), which is the 100-strong Russian influence ops "supergroup" I exposed last month on my podcast.
Russia-linked @imelizabethlane was introduced to Tucker Carlson through a convicted CIA officer who admits to being on the payroll of Russian state media.
Lane, who is from the former Soviet republic of Georgia, admits to sharing information told to her by U.S. special ops veterans she "dated" with Russian special forces operatives when she was in Russia.
Krapivnik is currently fundraising to equip Russian forces in Ukraine with drones.
He uses @youtube as a platform to do so, which violates their TOS because that's a violation of sanctions. Maybe @TeamYouTube can give me a statement about whether they will allow it to continue.
What do you guys think...
Is using your platform to knowingly advertise people as they are openly fundraising for violent sanctioned entities an illegal prohibited "service?"
Isn't it also illegal to provide services--paid or unpaid--to RT?
What do you think, @Kash_Patel, @SecScottBessent, @USTreasury, @TreasuryDepSec, @FBI_Response?

Trump’s son secretly went on vacation with a Putin’s oligarch: The two went hunting together in Mongolia this August.
Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Mongolia accompanied by the U.S. Secret Service and Republican donor Kevin Small. Later, Umar Kremlev flew in from Kazakhstan to join him, accompanied by businessman Artur Martirosov.
As a reminder, Kremlev reportedly previously paid for Trump Jr.’s wedding in the Bahamas in secret.
And we wonder why Trump is pro-russian?!

Just the US president’s son casually vacationing with a Kremlin-linked oligarch.
Donald Trump Jr. reportedly spent two days hunting in Mongolia with Umar Kremlev, a Russian oligarch with close ties to putin’s security circle, according to the Financial Times.
Kremlev, who has a criminal record and heads the International Boxing Association, also helped fund Trump Jr.’s lavish wedding celebrations earlier this year.
The two reportedly avoided taking photos together during the trip.
Also, a recent ProPublica investigation also revealed that Kremlev helped pay for Trump Jr.’s wedding celebrations earlier this year.

People think claims about Russian influence is a psyop; it's not. Unlike Israeli influence, which is out in the open, Russian influence is less obvious and depends on e-celebs and treacherous grifters. They'll use anyone they can get, even convicted sex offenders.

You ever notice how literally every single person in Peter Thiel’s sphere is pro-Russia and anti-Ukraine?
>Dugin is constantly glazing JD Vance and promoting him as the future of American politics and defending him from the failures of the Trump administration
>Dugin also promotes Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and even Peter Thiel as well as the Tech Right as a whole constantly
>Tucker Carlson, one of Thiel’s best friends and a fellow Vance shill, gave favorable interviews to Dugin/Putin and has been rabidly anti-Zelensky and anti-aid to Ukraine going all the way back to 2022
>Tucker is also constantly promoting and courting Candace Owens who praises Russia, went to the IEF in St. Petersburg, and has said she might arrange a meeting with Dugin in the future potentially through her husband George Farmer
>Vance, Thiel/Palantir’s groomed and planted candidate, tried to publicly humiliate Zelensky into surrendering to Russia in the White House
>Elon Musk, a fellow member of the PayPal Mafia and one of Vance’s biggest backers along with Thiel, is constantly agitating for Ukraine to surrender and for Zelensky to step down
>TRS, who are very pro-Russia and pro-Dugin, are militantly anti-Bannon (which they’ll say is because of his Epstein connections) who is most likely going to be one of the loudest critics of Vance, Thiel, and Little Tech in 2028
>Curtis Yarvin, Thiel’s close friend and personal philosopher, has advocated for Trump to help Russia take control of the entirety of Europe to “defeat liberalism” and has called Ukraine “Russia’s Texas”
>BAP, who’s career Yarvin helped promote, has stated he’s encouraged Ukrainian friends to defect and to refuse to fight and has also repeatedly collaborated with the Russian ultranationalist podcast “Russians with Attitude” who translated Bronze Age Mindset into Russian and recorded its audiobook
“Oh but Frosty, Palantir is helping Ukraine!”
Okay and? Do you think they’re doing that out of charity? They’re getting paid billions of dollars to do so and getting access to unmatched opportunities to field test their products as well as increasing integration into NATO and the US military.
Why are people always trying to equate Palantir’s particular actions as a company selling their products/technology to the long term political goals of Palantir’s founders? Elon Musk is supplying Starlink to Ukraine are you gonna tell me that guy is an anti-Russia warrior too?
“Oh but Alex Karp said in one interview he was anti-AFD because they’re pro-Russia!”
Are you revolting idiots really that gullible? Do you actually think that Alex Karp, the guy who’s said his number one fear is Fascism and that it has shaped Palantir’s mission from the start, is against AFD because they’re “pro-Russia”? You think if AFD was pro-NATO, pro-EU, and anti-Russia but fully White identitarian he suddenly wouldn’t have a problem with it?
Peter Thiel, Palantir, and that whole sphere are utterly moronic and incompetent enemies of America, enemies of the West, and enemies of the White race. Sorry to burst your pseudo intellectual bubble and ruin your dumbass Palantir techno-fascism edits but it’s the truth 🤷🏻♂️
