Important Twitter announcement: I have a new two-part tv doc coming soon (May) to BBC4. It’s called Secrets of Size: Atoms to Supergalaxies, and is rather good, though I say so myself.

In your own words, how would you define “time”?
Respectfully, I’m not looking for cheeky answers. I’m looking to put words to “time” in a way you’d describe it to a physicist or philosopher.

The pudgy, lovable, mildly creepy, microscopic Tardigrade “WaterBear” would make a most excellent @Macys Thanksgiving Day parade balloon.

Hubble's Variable Nebula. We're trying to shoot it twice a week. Problem is over the next few days all our guys are clouded out. If you have a decent scope and you are able to spare 4 hrs shooting luminance on this target over the weekend then let us know. Much appreciated. Rory

A new impact flash has been discovered on Jupiter by Brazilian observer Jose Luis Pereira - the flash occurred at Sep 13th, 22:39:30 UTC. It looks quite a bright one. Follow up images of this region will be useful to see if any dark scar was left following the event.

As you get into the sinister spirit for #Halloween, look to the cosmos for creepy celestial displays. 👻✨ In 2014, active regions on the Sun traced out an eerie jack-o’-lantern’s face, seen in ultraviolet light by our Sun-watching satellite. go.nasa.gov/3dNy3aa
