It wasn't until I actually spent time figuring this thing out that I understood a real relationship. It's the most important thing you can do, because whether you believe in Jesus or not, it will absolutely affect how you live your life.

And if you disagree that's fine! I would love to buy you lunch and talk, get to know your story, where you're from, and how you've arrived at this decision. I wasn't always a Christian, in fact I was very anti-Jesus for a long time.

Jesus' teachings were about love, but love with a standard. Love the person that makes mistakes but in a loving way offer them encouragement or advice on how to become the person they were created to be. Not the person you want them to be, but who they were created to be.

Yet Christians everywhere fail all the time. We say stupid stuff, do stupid stuff and offend people all the time, and it's not an excuse, or a "get out of jail free card," it's an opportunity. An opportunity to listen, to seek to understand and to help.

It's more than just religion, more than the brick and mortar building of a church, its people. People that love and accept everyone despite their background. That's the message of the gospel, that's what a relationship with Jesus looks like.

I tweet a lot about Jesus, because I have a personal relationship with Jesus. My relationship with Jesus doesn't make me think I am better than anyone; it gives me space to realize I am not perfect and find comfort in knowing His power is made perfect in my weakness.
