Following Jesus begins with a simple response to His invitation. We do not have to make it complicated.

The greatest tragedy in prayer isn’t unanswered requests. It is the unasked ones. God is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. Let's ask for God to His greatest work in our lives and in our world.

Maybe you've tried turning over a new leaf, and it didn't last. Real change doesn't start with effort. It starts with receiving something. Jesus Christ offers forgiveness, and with it comes a peace you can't manufacture and a new direction you couldn't find. Have you received it?

Our Father's faithfulness doesn't depend on how you feel or how things are working out. That's simply who He is.

Our own strength isn't sufficient to save us. Through Christ alone, we find hope and a settled peace.

Freedom from caring what people think doesn't come from caring less. It comes from caring about something more.
"When Christ is the center, He delivers us from our preoccupation with how others view us. The more Christ means to us, the less other people's opinions mean." — Chuck Swindoll
Paul wrote from custody that his one hope was for Christ to be honored in his body, "whether by life or by death" (Philippians 1:20). A man with that as his ambition has very little bandwidth left for managing his reputation.
The opinions don't stop coming. They just stop landing.

The apostle Paul wrote, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13 NIV). God wants us to come to Him again and again, asking Him to fill and empower us afresh. The fact is, we have a never-ending need, and He has an inexhaustible supply.
The Christians featured in the book of Acts certainly understood the importance of being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The apostle Peter led thousands of people to Christ at Pentecost after he was filled by the Holy Spirit. Stephen, the first known Christian martyr, preached one of the most powerful sermons ever recorded because he was filled with the Spirit’s power. The apostle Paul vividly describes being disheartened, discouraged, and lonely before God refueled and restored him.
Whenever you start to feel spiritually run-down, ask the Lord to refill you with the power of His Spirit. And then watch what He does.
How do you know when you need a spiritual refill?

When discouragement comes, remember where your strength comes from. Turn toward the Lord rather than letting the weight of the moment have the final word.

We rarely say it out loud, but many of us believe grace got us in the door and effort keeps us in the room.
Paul wouldn't allow it: "Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God" (2 Corinthians 3:5). Sufficiency — the whole of it, start to finish, from Him.
Saved by grace and transformed by grit is an exhausting arrangement. It also isn't the gospel.
Comment below if you're grateful for God's grace!

ALT A quote is overlaid on a painting of a forest scene. The quote reads: "In our accomplishment-driven, reward-oriented culture, we tend to believe that we are saved by God's grace but transformed by our own works. We need to remember that true spirituality comes from God; it doesn't come from us." — Chuck Swindoll.

It’s possible to do every religious thing right and miss the point. Jesus never measured devotion by how we kept the checklist. He looked for hearts that respond to a favor they never earned. Obedience still matters. It flows from gratitude, not fear. What’s been driving yours?

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” 2 Corinthians 4:18.

2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (NLT). This isn’t a BYOS—Bring Your Own Strength—calling. You don’t need to be naturally strong to turn your world upside down. Or naturally gifted. Or naturally charismatic. You just need to commit yourself to God and His purposes. The Lord will do the rest.
If you will commit to the Lord, there’s no telling what kind of difference you can make in the world. There’s no telling how far the ripples of your ministry will extend—throughout the world and throughout the years. It will be exciting in the days ahead to see what God will do through and with you. But He wants you to be available to Him.
One of these days, your life will come to an end. What will you say about it? What will others say about it?
How great it would be to say, like the world-up-ender Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful” (2 Timothy 4:7 NLT).
What would a total commitment to God look like in your life?

The oyster doesn't choose the intrusion. It responds to it...slowly, layer upon layer, over years. The beauty and the wound occupy the same space. You can't have the one without having had the other.
What irritation in your life might God be covering with something beautiful?

I heard something disturbing the other day: that fake Bible verses are getting huge amounts of likes and shares. God said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6, HCSB). Please don’t rely on social media or other people for your Bible verses. Know and read God’s word for yourself. Read a print Bible. Fact check verses you see on social media. Please don’t be led astray.

The Lord’s coming draws closer every day. Paul wrote, “The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living” (Romans 13:12 NLT). It’s time for us to wake up.
One thing that always amazes me when I get up really early in the morning is that it’s pitch-dark outside. Sometimes I have to double-check the clock. I think to myself, “It can’t be 5:30; it’s got to be 1:30. It’s so dark.” But sure enough, every morning the sun slowly begins to rise. What was only darkness a few moments earlier begins to lighten up. And the next thing you know, the sun is out and everything’s lit up.
This is how our world is right now. It’s dark. And it’s been dark for a long time. We start to think that it will always be this way. But it won’t. The darkness will not last forever. Christ is going to come back again. Be ready for His return.
What impact does the realization that Christ will return have on your daily actions and decisions?
