His twin sons, George & Matt both went on to play for Linfield in the 50's and his grandson David Nixon also played for the Blues. Sadly George passed away last month just before his 94th Birthday.

Sadly Johnny is buried in the 'poor ground' in the City Cemetery with no headstone or marking (Plot H3 610). His name is recorded on the nearby Screen Wall and also on the Linfield War Memorial
Thanks to Jeff from 'Lost Football Heroes' for the information & photo of Johnny

🎨 Weavers To Winners Mural Restoration
At tomorrow’s home fixture against Dungannon Swifts, the Amalgamation of Linfield Supporters Clubs will be holding a bucket collection to raise funds for the restoration of the iconic ‘Weavers To Winners’ mural.
Unveiled in 2011 to mark 125 years of Linfield Football Club and our 50th League Title, the mural stands proudly in the heartland of our Club and depicts Linfield’s 1891 double-winning side.
It represents our connection with the area where Linfield was formed and which produced so many Club legends, including the Torrans family, Billy Simpson and Tommy ‘The Duke of Windsor’ Dickson.
All money raised will go directly towards restoring and preserving this important piece of Linfield history for future generations.

He was also an Irish International player.
Dick was a full time soldier and travelled from where he was stationed to play for Linfield. At one stage he was in Cork, so it shows how important he was to the Blues!
