Old Critter Fighting Litter

No room in the Litter Bag! It was a real PIG FEST yesterday on the property of Parkland School. Beer cans, sugary drinks containers, candy wrappers - the usual suspects. But never did I expect to find an armchair! Resting 200 metres away was the cushion for said chair.

The kids are back in school today - yippee! That means more plastic baggies #littered in the schoolyard. In early August - over a month into the summer break - I picked up 91 whole or partial plastic “sandwich” bags (plus other garbage) on the properties of just 3 schools.

While there never seems to be a shortage of litter to remove from our poor beleaguered environment, I will admit to a fondness for "clusters" of garbage discarded by thoughtless louts. Large or small, clusters make for good "before" and "after" pics.

While driving yesterday noticed a lot of litter on Wellington St. East near the Sault Youth Soccer Club. Along with the usual soft drink cans and chip bags, this morning found lots of discounted prepared meal containers from the nearby Metro grocery store. Eating on the run?

Wildfire smoke from "up north" has recently been blanketing the area. We had a bit of a reprieve yesterday and that led to people getting outdoors and... #littering (of course). Pictured is this morning's haul from a nearby schoolyard and playground.

Frankly, most days I rather stay home working in our garden. BUT we can't go anywhere without being reminded of LITTER. Grrr!

NOT PREGNANT! Found my first littered Clearblue pregnancy test at Bellevue Park this morning. Makes a not-so-nice change from the usual litter finds! According to AI: “Used, pee-soaked tests are considered biohazardous material and should be treated as such.”

Back at picking up litter after a nightmarish winter which dumped a record 560 cm of snow on the area! Highlights from this morning’s walk included a sports bra with a glove at Clergue Park. Lots of litter emerging from melting snowbanks...

LITTER BE GONE! Decided it was time to empty our garage of the 783 littered beer/alcohol cans & the 52 littered liquor bottles we had accumulated over the last 1.5 years. Cleaning the lot was a pain but received $85.30 from @TheBeerStoreON.

WHO is the littering slob that guzzles Stella Artois beer almost daily and then throws the cans into this garden at lovely Bellevue Park? First discovered by my wife, pictured are the cans we've collected from this spot since June. The miscreant also loves peanut butter cups.

Littering slobs who "PITCH it in the DITCH" create real problems for the easy flow of water in our city. I do my best to Make Grates Great Again - sometimes difficult to do if the dog is restless!

Litter Collection #3 Smokers drop their butts and discard their supposedly spent lighters here, there & everywhere. Many can still manage a flame. Brought 123 of the mostly plastic abandoned lighters to the Hazardous Waste Depot run by the @CitySSM.

Litter Collections #1 & #2 Drug paraphernalia - mainly crack pipes, most found downtown. Soothers/Pacifiers or Dummies (as they called in Britain). Found everywhere. I'm thinking of mailing them to climate change deniers (who, sadly, are also found everywhere).

Wow! My first ever #littered paratrooper! Makes an exciting change from all the plastic cups we pick up daily. Found the paratrooper on a storm drain. Was he sent here by the Dim and Dumb @realDonaldTrump as part of his Make Canada The 51st State blather?

I was MISTAKEN! Walking thru Bellevue Park this a.m. I went 100 metres out of my way to pick up a piece of paper only to discover it was actually birch bark. Aging eyes! However, the error led me to two empty old purses under a nearby bush. Fingerless gloves another park find.

This morning: 2 hour walk at beautiful Robertson Cliffs (half hour north of the city) yielded little #litter + a breathtaking view (that's Lake Superior in the background). This afternoon: 30 minute dog walk in the city yielded all the crap to the left of the litter picker.

From giant pieces of plastic to a broken hula-hoop, lots of #litter variety in recent days. Favourite find was an uneaten Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffin made by Oscar Spunkmeyer. Delicious product (as per the company's website) but I have a strict NO EATING LITTER policy!
