For my first read of the year I chose 'Orbital' by Samatha Harvey - the winner of the 2024 Booker Prize. It was a 10/10 read and I highly recommend!
With a space theme going on I did a book review for 'Orbital' as the latest post on my blog - letschalkaboutit.blog/post/o…
First two legs of the South West Coastal Path complete, a project that I one day hope to complete. Walking from Bournemouth to Weymouth (minus a taxi ride round the military shooting range for obvious reasons) was great fun and we saw some incredible geology too!
Super excited to be joining @CrimsonHeatUK Rangers for my first all-star cheer season!!
My recent article is up on @oxsci based on a BBC World Service talk with Jocelyn Bell Burnell at the Oxford Literary Festival.
Always very happy to chat about gender equality in STEM, give it a read if you get a chance!

This morning’s live recording for @bbcworldservice where Dame Professor Jocelyn Bell Burnell talked about her experience of diversity in astrophysics.
A fascinating topic, and very cool to see live radio recording. Watch out for my article on the event for @oxsci coming soon!
Had a wonderful time today talking @morethanadodo’s youth group about the possible habitats for extra terrestrial life in the solar system (the topic of my extended essay).
Had some great discussions about astrobioethics as well (and they made some cute pipe cleaner aliens!)
A little step out of my comfort zone, writing something non-science related, but throughly enjoyed creating this article!

"The little-known risk of cosmic radiation in air travel" — a must-read from @LivAllen02 et al. recently featured in @oxsci that raises awareness of this occupational health issue.

"Sea surface level is not constant—the Indian Ocean gravity hole is a remarkable example of this, and may be the result of low density plasma plumes"
A fascinating read by @LivAllen02 @oxsci

Finally handed in my mapping project, it’s been a lot of work since leaving the Irish fields behind in August (which you can read about on letschalkaboutit.blog)
Very proud of myself for getting it done!
(Selfie of me and my A0 poster just after printing)
The end of 2023 marks a year since I started my blog as a little project allowing me to work on my science writing skills and document my time studying Earth Science at Oxford. I finished off my last post of the year with a little look back at 2023!
