Watamu’s having a good nesting year so far. This Green Mama came up in the early hours of the morning - pretty late for our sea turtles as they normally go back to the ocean under the cover of darkness. Our KWS Asst Warden and our St. Lawrence University interns joined our vigil.

Another gentle dawn, another gentle big Mama came up to nest this week. This grand old lady will have travelled thousands of miles from her foraging grounds to come back to the beach of her birth to nest at Watamu. How incredible a feat is that?

Students from Kilifi’s Eco Moyo Educational Centre, are from humble families in Dzunguni village. They are supported with books, tuition fees & meals; It’s such a great project. We were so delighted to host them. They told us their visit to LOC was the highlight of their activity

A dawn reward! On a very blustery high tide early, early morning our little friends made a dash for the #ocean. Watching #SeaTurtle #Hatchlings emerge naturally from their nest and scamper down to the water, is such a special way to start the day.
