Yesterday, I watched Naza.
I did not go to learn what had happened in Gaza. I am from there. I am one of the victims of this war, one of its witnesses, and one of those who have paid a price that will not end when the war does.
I did not need a film to tell me how entire neighborhoods were wiped away, how residential buildings were bombed with the people still inside them, or how families were forced to leave their homes without knowing where they were supposed to go.
Nor did I need anyone to tell me about the famine. I lived through it twice, with all its humiliations, down to the smallest detail. Or about the starving people who were killed while trying to reach what were so absurdly called “food distribution centers.”
I know all of this.
I was there.

If you have been only talking about AI art or the obliteration of search functions I am BEGGING you to learn about the working conditions and environmental impact because IT MATTERS MORE
“It’s like modern-day slavery. Because it’s cheap labor,” says Nerima Wako-Ojiwa, a Kenyan civil rights activist. Big American tech companies advertise AI jobs as a ticket to the future, but she calls the workspaces AI sweatshops. cbsn.ws/3AXKgco

It’s increasingly clear that Ellen DeGeneres was an environmentally significant apex predator in the media ecosystem; she’d have extracted all entertainment value from the Hawk Tuah girl in a 3-minute segment and banished her back to anonymity, maintaining ecological balance – at Providence, RI

Was talking to an unhoused neighbor who had worked as a firefighter in an incarcerated context and they recounted a fellow firefighter fully EVAPORATING into the air during a fire because it was that hot and the wind shifts so quickly. He had no time to escape. 1/4

. . . incredible (meme by @oneirocosm)
ALT the "two men" meme with riley and andrew playing with the same controller (each with one hand on it) in an embrace. the text says " sometimes you just need ... two men ... yes our bodies are strong but our friendship is stronger. we have been friends for over 14 years. of course there have been ups and downs but we always come to terms with our differences because friendship like this comes once in a life time... by hiring us you will receive not just the strength of our bodies but the strength of our emotional bond as well. hire us: moonshot.mov"

Several years ago, when things were bad as they are now, I made a comic about art and community in the face of hate. Today feels like a time to reshare. 1/5
