From a moment when I was contemplating how best to say something, and realised I say it best with swords. #TransMenareMen #TransWomenareWomen #hema #fencing #londonlongswordfamily #londonlongswordacademy #learnswordfighting #london

Just wonderful, many stabs, a lot of Girard Thibault verdadera destreza, and the addition of the off hand to play against… because we wanted to. #hema #learnswordfighting #community #londonlongswordacademy #davidrawlings

Oh there are so many variations of this we can do. Heresy! I feel it’s worth mentioning the life giving sword here as well, to paraphrase “do not let your opponent know you want to do this, or they will kill you”.

The point of these is not for you to do them against an uncooperative opponent, but for them to exist, trained and ready for the point at which they are the right thing to do. Which I thought was obvious, but here we are😊 #hema #learnswordfighting #liechtenauer #davidrawlimgs

Heresy! I’ve had fun running this interpretation of the sword taking through a few classes over the last weeks. And showing how it’s simple principles work against techniques inside and out of the arms, fingernails up and fingernails down..

. I showed it against the fingernails down against a turning in à la verdadera destreza explaining the vulgar, as I thought it would court the most controversy among those unable to see the simple constant that make both work.
