As a former police sergeant, I find this footage raises some important questions. From what can be seen, the officer did not clearly identify herself before engaging with the individual. If someone genuinely believed they were being attacked, rather than confronted by a police officer, it is understandable that their immediate reaction may have been to defend themselves. That context is likely to be highly relevant when assessing any allegation of assault against police. I also remain concerned about the language used by some officers. While I appreciate there are occasions where firm and direct language is necessary, there appears to be a growing acceptance of swearing and unnecessarily offensive language. If a member of the public behaved in the same way towards others, they could potentially face arrest for public order offences. The police should be held to at least the same standard, if not a higher one. Perhaps I’m old-fashioned, but I believe policing is at its best when officers lead by example through professionalism, courtesy and clear communication. Those principles build public confidence far more effectively than aggression or unnecessary confrontation.

🤔 The biggest risk in crypto nobody talks about? Smart contracts acting as custodians. As our CEO @BBilowitzki puts it: a smart contract acting as a custodian is just a dumb bank with no oversight, no recourse, and all the risk.

To everyone in the UK!! I had a great session today with the UK Stand with Crypto. With the BoE considering limiting the amount of Stablecoins individuals and companies can hold, I support this petition for the UK Government to consider a more pro-crypto and blockchain technology. #StandWCrypto_UK #UKCrypto #UK #blockchains Petition: Set out a pro-innovation strategy for blockchain and stablecoins petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Over the weekend, I came across a news article on Cointelegraph that left me divided in my thoughts. For those who may have missed it, the Bank of England has proposed limiting the amount of stablecoins held by UK individuals and companies. The proposal suggests caps on the amount of stablecoins that individuals and businesses can hold, ranging from £10,000 to £20,000 for individuals, and around £10 million for businesses. These caps would apply to any “systemic” stablecoin that is widely used or expected to be used for payments within the UK. Here’s the link to the article for more information: cointelegraph.com/news/uk-cr… Given that on-chain stablecoin transaction volumes surpassed $20 trillion globally in the 12 months leading up to mid-2025, these proposals raise essential questions. Could such limits hinder the growth of UK companies and open the door for other countries to dominate the emerging digital economy?   While these proposed measures aim to protect UK financial stability, they carry both potential benefits and drawbacks, leaving me with more questions than answers. Should the UK restrict stablecoin usage in favour of supporting private banks? Or should they embrace the future of digital currency and a new financial landscape?  Or, are they waiting for the UK financial institutions to catch up? Pros of restricting  - Financial Stability: Caps on individual stablecoin holdings (£10,000 to £20,000) and business holdings help prevent sudden outflows from banks, reducing systemic risk to the UK financial system. - Consumer Protection: The regulated backing of stablecoins by high-quality liquid assets and segregated custody enhances transparency and security for users. - Crime Prevention: Tighter controls support anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud prevention efforts. Cons of restricting  - Innovation Risk: Stringent limits may discourage fintech and crypto startups from launching or expanding in the UK, driving innovation offshore. - Market Fragmentation: Caps could reduce liquidity and utility of stablecoins, increasing costs and reducing payment efficiency. - Currency Risks: Without sterling-backed stablecoins thriving in the UK, reliance on foreign stablecoins (such as USD-based ones) increases exposure to currency fluctuations. - Competitive Disadvantage: Other global hubs with looser rules may attract talent, capital, and business away from the UK. #stablecoin #UKCrypto #UK #FinTech

This past year on the Intersect Board has been a journey unlike any other. We were tasked with discovering how governance on Cardano could work while walking a path no one had mapped before. At times, the way forward wasn’t clear, pivots were necessary, and no one could say with certainty what was “right” or “wrong.” But through it all, one thing remained constant: listening to the community and learning together. From expanding Intersect’s presence through hubs to hosting education, workshops, and events that brought governance closer to people to amplifying Cardano’s voice in new regions, we’ve made real strides. I was also privileged to take this message directly to the Head of State in Sri Lanka, presenting Intersect’s development report to the President and speaking on how decentralized governance can help nations achieve accountability, efficiency, and productivity through blockchain ecosystems like Cardano. One of my greatest privileges as an active participant in the Cardano ecosystem has always been to meet, interact, and learn from so many people across this ecosystem, and one thing has always clear: there is no community like the Cardano community. The passion, the persistence, and the belief that together we can build something bigger than ourselves, gives me hope for Cardano and for the future. Listening to these voices has shaped my own perspective of the world. That’s what i believe Intersect is at its core, not just a name, but an Intersection point. A place where diverse paths meet, where different ideas collide, and where a common direction is forged. Not perfect, not always easy but real and authentic. The work done in this first phase was about building foundations and discovering pathways. The next chapter, I believe, must be about refinement, strengthening accountability, making processes more efficient, and ensuring Intersect continues to serve as a true facilitator for a community-led future. I am honoured to stand for re-election to the Intersect Board. If you believe in broadening voices, building bridges, and ensuring governance reflects the global community, I would be grateful for your support. 🗳️ Cast your vote here ➡️ members.intersectmbo.org/das… Together, let’s keep building.

Another week in crypto comes to a close with several major milestones achieved. In the US, Congress has approved the GENIUS Act along with the Market Structure Bill advances. Whilst in the UK, the Bank of England released the latest design notes on the digital pound. Having reviewed the BoE design notes, my key takeaways are: The Bank of England is signalling a transformative shift in the UK’s payments landscape. This shift will establish interoperability, privacy, and public-private collaboration as the foundations of trusted digital money. By centralising interoperability and empowering private-sector intermediaries to drive user-facing innovation, the Bank is safeguarding the “singleness of money” and laying the groundwork for inclusive, frictionless, and future-ready digital payments, with support for seamless cash integration, robust privacy standards, and an open infrastructure designed to encourage experimentation and competition. Is your business ready to build on a platform where trust, openness, and innovation converge?  DM me if you wish to discuss how your company could benefit from this. I had the pleasure of joining @concordium on Wednesday to discuss The Rise of Stablecoins. What comes next?  The panel had some great insights, and we had a fascinating discussion on the future of stablecoins in Europe and beyond. The Key takeaways for me were: Regulation & Innovation Europe’s MiCA framework is setting a high bar for compliance, but is it helping or hurting innovation? Some teams are heading to the US or Asia, where the rules may be more flexible. Mainstream Adoption For stablecoins to go mainstream, the focus must shift to user experience, think embedded wallets in social platforms, simplified onboarding, and hiding blockchain complexity from users. Stablecoin Landscape Will we see thousands of niche stablecoins or a few global players? Circle, Tether, and even BlackRock are shaping this space, each with a different strategy, some focusing on tokenised assets instead of coins. Emerging Use Cases Beyond trading, think micropayments for streaming or AI bots paying each other. These applications could unlock a new wave of utility. Lots to digest, but one thing was clear, the intersection of regulation, tech, and user experience will define the winners in this space. If you are considering any of the above, then let’s discuss. #Stablecoins #Crypto #Web3 #MiCA #Fintech #DigitalAssets #Blockchain #concordium
