How much is a national title worth to Indiana football?
Intangibly, it’s priceless. As a part of our valuation of football programs, the championship coupled with smart and aggressive financial decisions send IU’s profile skyrocketing.
A gift article.

Before winning the Heisman trophy and the national championship, Fernando Mendoza’s mom, Elsa, penned him a beautiful letter: “Your accomplishments will NEVER impact how proud of you I am. Because you are already everything I could have hoped for as a mother.... and that has nothing to do with the miles you throw or the touchdowns you score. It has everything to do with the man you’ve grown into. As an oldest brother who shows the way. As a hard worker who has an unstoppable spirit. As a Cuban American athlete who represents his community. As a leader who lifts up, and lends kindness, even when no one is looking. As a person of faith, who leans on God and trusts Him, even when it’s an uneasy road. You have a future that’s so bright and a heart that’s so full. My gentle giant. My darling son. My buddy. My teammate. I believe in you with every part of me.
I’m proud of you, not just today, but every day.” playerstribu.ne/Fernando

Indiana just became the first team in the Internet recruiting era to win a national title with a blue-chip ratio of less than 50 percent.
IU’s number was… 8 percent.
We have never seen anything like this.

Give Curt Cignetti a year in charge of America and we'd be ahead of China in the construction of high speed rail.

Read @ZachOsterman on Indiana football.
This is the kind of kick ass sportswriting a big time moment like last night deserved. Absolutely delivered the goods.

I like to remind the timeline every so often as it's a phenomenal piece of work that explains the issue of monetary debasement so succinctly.

The rise of Indiana football under Cignetti is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.
Just getting to a bowl game has long been the ceiling for that program. Then Cignetti comes in, goes to CFP in Year 1, legit top-5 team in Year 2.
That just doesn't happen in CFB.

FINAL: Indiana 30, Oregon 20
Curt Cignetti took over the worst program in the Big Ten. He's now:
* 17-2 at IU
* Only losses: The two teams who played a title last year
* Just handed Oregon its first ever Big Ten loss
Curt Cigentti: Best coach in college football
