Congratulations @LukeRayfield_3 of @crest_baseball & @Post82Baseball on your Commitment to @NCStateBaseball Luke broke the mold on the contemporary recruiting myth that said you "need" Showcase to become a P4 Recruit. Luke committed all his playing time to solely Varsity and Senior Legion. His Head Coach, @adammcfarland21, is an excellent advocate for his players and is willing to make any call to a College Coach if he believes in the player's ability to play at a particular school or level. So, when Coach McFarland picked up the phone to dial NC State, those Coaches knew he wouldn't be calling to waste their time. Then, in a testament to Area IV Senior Legion, NC State continued to evaluate Luke this Summer through his Post 82 Schedule, proving that Legion can create a very competitive and meaningful environment to evaluate talent. There's a lot of different paths to the top of the Mountain, but when good talent plays in a competitive environment in front of the right Coaches, Recruiting matches will be made quickly. Again, a lot of respect to Coach McFarland and the Crest program who really invests in their players. A Varsity Head Coach advocating for his top, hardest working players is still an extremely effective Recruiting Tool, and it costs $0. The only thing the player has to "pay" his Coach is time and energy. And as far as Legion, most Area IV Senior Legion teams are free to join. Shoutout again to Luke, for choosing the most "Cost Effective" approach in recruiting process. We enjoyed covering & scouting Luke on several Varsity and Legion Broadcasts the past few years while getting his Prospect films done through a unique partnership with Crest Baseball where Coach McFarland would host us through the Boosters program once a year for a Private Prospect Filming. If any other Varsity Coaches would be interested in discussing similar Booster-fueled events, please feel free to reach out, as its another unique way to support your players outside of the Big Recruiting Industry and put recruiting power back in the hands of the High School programs @JoeLHughesII @saltlifer4 @ChrisHart21 @ClintChrysler @JT_Black5 @JTjarrett10 @legionbaseball
