NOBODY STANDS UP AT GRADUATION AND THANKS A STANDARDIZED TEST. Think about that for a minute. When students walk across that stage, they don’t talk about their test scores, percentile rankings, or how well they performed on a state assessment. They talk about people. The teacher who noticed something was wrong when everyone else thought they were fine. The counselor who made time for them when their whole world was falling apart. The cafeteria worker who made sure they had something to eat without making them feel embarrassed. The coach who believed in them when they had stopped believing in themselves. The secretary who knew their name and always greeted them with a smile. The custodian who took a few minutes to listen when nobody else seemed to have time. And the teacher who refused to give up on them, even when they had pretty much given up on themselves. Nobody says, “That standardized test changed my life.” But they DO say: “You were the first person who told me I was smart.” “You made me feel like I mattered.” “You knew something was wrong at home, and you helped me.” “You didn’t treat me like a bad kid.” “You believed in me when nobody else did.” And sometimes, the most powerful words of all: “I’m not sure I’d be here today if it weren’t for you.” I’ve spent years as a teacher, principal, therapist, and educator. And here’s something I wish every person making decisions about education understood: We can measure reading levels. We can measure math proficiency. We can measure attendance and graduation rates. But how do you measure the impact of an adult who helps a child feel safe? What’s the score for restoring someone’s confidence? How many points is it worth when a struggling student finally feels like they belong? And what standardized test measures the value of a teacher who helps a child find a reason to keep going? I’m not suggesting academics don’t matter. Of course they do. But somewhere along the way, we’ve become so obsessed with measuring what students KNOW that we sometimes forget to value how students FEEL. And here’s the part that really gets me. Some of the people making the biggest differences in children’s lives will never receive an award, a bonus, or even a thank-you. They’ll just show up again tomorrow. With their own struggles. Their own bills. Their own exhaustion. And they’ll keep caring. Because the greatest thing an educator may ever teach a student isn’t found in a textbook. It’s that they matter. That they’re capable. That their mistakes don’t define them. That someone believes in them. And that their story isn’t over just because they’re having a difficult chapter. Twenty years from now, most students won’t remember their standardized test scores. But they’ll remember how you made them feel. They’ll remember who showed up. They’ll remember who stayed. And they’ll remember who cared. THAT is the kind of education that changes lives. And it’s about time we started valuing the people who make it happen. ❤️ YOUR TURN: Who was THAT person for you? A teacher, counselor, coach, bus driver, secretary, or someone else who made a difference? Name them in the comments. Tell us what they did. Tag them if you can. They may have absolutely no idea how much they changed your life. And if you work in a school, please share this with someone who needs to be reminded that what they do matters. Because sometimes the people who spend their lives lifting others up need someone to lift them up, too. — Dr. Bryan Pearlman #TeachersMatter #EducationMatters #TeacherAppreciation #MentalHealthMatters #MakeADifference

Most people don't use the best part of their brain when they encounter hardship. That's because most folks believe they don't have a choice when their brains present them with powerful feelings or loud automatic thoughts. That's what we self-brain surgeons call "brain management mode," where you spend your life reacting to circumstances, thoughts, and feelings as if they have the power to control, trigger, or define you. Let me set the record straight, as both a board-certified brain surgeon and a trauma survivor from the Iraq War and the loss of a son: I've been studying the neuroscience of trauma and post-traumatic growth for decades, and the news is good. You can't avoid trouble (see John 16:33, for example), but you CAN choose the right instrument to operate during and after it to optimize the outcome. That's because your brain is not your boss. This reel will give you the perspective to escape brain management mode and start operating your brain like a surgeon. Share this with someone who's locked in brain management mode, and save it for the next time you feel your brain bossing you around. And click the link in my bio to check out my 2X New York Times bestselling book, The Life-Changing Art of Self-Brain Surgery. #selfbrainsurgery #neuroscience #anxiety #ptsd #mentalhealth

🚨 Scientists Believe the Human Mind May Connect to a Cosmic Intelligence Quantum researchers are exploring a shocking idea — that human consciousness could be linked to a larger universal mind. Some theories suggest the brain may access hidden information fields that influence healing, awareness, and balance. While scientists still debate the evidence, the research is raising mysterious questions about whether the universe — and human consciousness — are deeply connected in ways we never imagined.

Researchers cut open the brains of Alzheimer’s patients and found a bacteria living inside 90% of them. It’s the exact same bacteria that lives in your mouth right now. For decades, medicine treated Alzheimer’s as an unavoidable genetic flaw or a random protein glitch. The leading theory blamed "amyloid plaques”, sticky protein buildups that choke off brain cells. Big Pharma spent billions trying to destroy these plaques. Almost every single drug trial failed. A groundbreaking study published in Science Advances revealed why. The protein plaques aren't the primary cause of the disease. They are the brain's desperation defense mechanism against an invader. The culprit is Porphyromonas gingivalis, a common bacterium that thrives in infected gums. When your gums bleed, the bacteria enters your bloodstream. Over years, it breaches the blood-brain barrier and secretes toxic enzymes called gingipains. These toxic enzymes literally slice up brain tissue, destroy neurons, and trigger devastating memory loss. To defend itself, the brain produces amyloid proteins to trap the bacteria. We weren't looking at the cause of Alzheimer's. We were looking at the crime scene aftermath. When researchers infected healthy mice with the gum bacteria, the mice developed brain infections, amyloid plaques, and rapid neural damage. When they gave the mice a targeted drug to block the bacterial enzymes, the brain infection cleared, neuroinflammation dropped, and dying neurons were rescued. Alzheimer’s may not be an irreversible decay of the mind. It might be a chronic bacterial infection we’ve been ignoring for decades. The solution to one of humanity's most terrifying diseases might not start in a neurology ward. It might start in your mouth.
