For the last 17 years I was able to play the greatest game God ever made. Playing football has allowed me to become a better man. Thanks to all my teammates and coaches who helped me along the way. I have built so many incredible relationships that I will cherish forever.

Bob Chesney Senior is 76 and he's in the UCLA football building early in the morning and he's still in there at night.
He's in the staff meetings. He works with the DL. He's got no title, he's not on the payroll and nobody ever asked him to come.
The players call him Coach Senior. He got there this summer and has been there since.
His son is the head coach. UCLA are 5th in the country this week (first time they've been in the top 10 since October 2001) and they're 8 and 0.
Now back up 26 years.
Bob Chesney grew up in Kulpmont, PA (population at last census 2,758). It was a coal town, with a corner store and a bar on pretty much every block and a social life that went through the clubs, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the American Legion and the Polish and Irish clubs.
His dad coached at the Catholic high school. So did his uncle. So did his grandfather. Chesney was the ball boy before he was old enough to play.
His parents couldn't afford his schooling so he went back home in the summer and worked. Some summers that was doing the landscaping. Some summers it was at the mine.
'The toughest one was mining coal.'
"Back in Kulpmont that's what you did."
Years later as a young assistant at Johns Hopkins (making around $28k) he was sharing a 4 bedroom house with his future wife and two roommates and was tending bar at a club in Baltimore at night (four or five hundred a shift).
"Got me through those years."
He started out as a graduate assistant at a DIII school in 2000. Then Delaware Valley. Then King's College. Then Johns Hopkins. Then head coaching jobs at Salve Regina, Assumption, Holy Cross and James Madison.
8 conference titles. A career record of 132 and 52.
Martin Jarmond (the AD who hired him) put it in seven words.
"Everywhere he's been he's turned it around."
Be absolutely clear about what his father actually watched, as it wasn't anything quick and it was by no means glamorous. Bob Senior saw all 26 years of it from the very start and that's how he describes it.
He did it one rung at a time. He didn't skip a single one.
A 76 year old man who coached high school football in a coal town is now standing on a practice field in LA with no title and no pay at all, just watching his son coach the 5th best team in the country.
I do get choked up about it. I'm an emotional guy.
Somebody asked Chesney what the best bit about having his dad there was.
"Well that he is my dad."
Say what you want about hurts….He’s a certified winner
Eagles Win/Loss
With Jalen Hurts
- 59/22 (67.8 % win rate)
Without Jalen Hurts:
- 6/14/1 (28.5 % win rate)
The "super team" hasn't been great without their cornerstone.
#Eagles
I can guarantee you if someone hits my teammate like that before the game (especially carrying the flag) he’d be out injured the rest of the season. Guaranteed
Don’t question his toughness. Dude is a winner! Praying for a speedy recovery for QB1
#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs, has been undergoing tests for days.
Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am and did not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played without having slept.

Great angle that confirms what OL and rule experts have been saying all along: definitely not a hold. Standard chop move by the OL that should never get called a hold. Here you go, @geoffschwartz @tjmcaulay
Top 5 worst calls I’ve ever seen with my own 2 eyes
Couple of things that upset me about this
A) it’s not holding. He chops his arm down and he lost his balance
B) this is very important. Holding is only supposed to be called if it could effect the play. The DE is double teamed and the ball is gone at the time of the “holding”. He’s nowhere near the QB.
Just an all time bad call. It’s an official looking to be part of the game.
The Florida state hold was even worse. But it’s actually laughable. And there’s so clearly 1 second left. Are the refs watching the game for fun or doing their fucking job ?
BYU out played ND but how can these refs keep getting away with blatant wrong calls/no calls at the end of games that are so important. Refs need to be held accountable either in press conferences or small fines for their wrong doings. Egregious.
NEW: The Big 12 has announced that one second should have been added back to the clock in BYU’s win over Notre Dame:
"Following the Big 12’s review of the final play of Saturday’s Notre Dame-BYU game, it was determined that time remained on the clock when the ball hit the ground and the play was incorrectly cleared by the replay officiating crew. The Conference will conduct a complete review of its end-of-game officiating process in advance of next week's games."

Check this out: Mike Ditka in a game against the Steelers in 1963. This is honestly one of the best plays by a tight end in NFL history that very few people have ever seen. RIP Iron Mike.
