A federal judge temporarily blocked the deportation of Oscar Bergal, the man shot by an ICE agent in NYC. He also cannot be moved outside the Eastern District of New York as his case moves forward.

The Texas Dream Act was enacted with bipartisan support and signed into law by Governor Rick Perry because lawmakers recognized it was sound public policy. That bipartisan consensus was reaffirmed when efforts to repeal the law during the last legislative session failed to gain traction.
If there is an effort to change the Texas Dream Act, it should happen through the legislative process, not by asking the courts to do what the Legislature declined to do. Circumventing the will of the #txlege through litigation undermines the democratic process.
We won’t give up on this fight. @MALCTx
It was an honor and privilege to serve with Chairman Cook in the #TxLege. His opinion editorial in the @dallasnews is a must read for those who appreciate and want to keep our investment in Texas’ children. dallasnews.com/opinion/comme…

I was proud to stand alongside fellow MALC members Rep. Rafael Anchia, Chairman Ramon Romero as well as colleagues Rep. Rhetta Bowers and Rep. John Bryant in solidarity with North Texas business leaders opposing cruel and harmful restrictions that are destroying livelihoods, hurting our economy, and creating chaos on Texas roads.
Texans deserve policies that support working families, help businesses thrive, and keep our roads safe and moving, not policies that make life harder for the people who live, work, and drive in our state.
We will continue fighting for those common-sense solutions, but lasting change doesn’t happen on its own. It happens when people show up, get involved, and make their voices heard at the ballot box. November is coming. 🗳️ @malctx

Now more than ever, our community is relying on us not just to speak out, but to show up.
We cannot afford to look away or stay silent. We must meet this moment with courage, because too much is at stake.
Today, it’s our businesses, our families, and our safety. Tomorrow, it will be something more. Rights and freedoms are rarely taken all at once - they are chipped away piece by piece, only when people allow it.
We must organize. We must mobilize. We must fight for one another. And we will carry that fight all the way to November and beyond.
As Sylvia always said, “Hasta la victoria” (“Until victory”). ✊ #txlege #hd115
MALC and business owners sound the alarm on Texas DMV and DPS rule changes. Watch Rep. Hernandez, Rep. Romero and Rep. Anchia talk about how this impacts our state. #txlege
Celebrating the launch of the new Bipartisan U.S.-Mexico Congressional Caucus by Rep. @JoaquinCastrotx and @RepRudyYakym. This is a timely and important initiative to strengthen one of our Nation’s most vital relationships. Our shared future depends on cooperation in trade, security, energy, and cultural ties.
A special shoutout to former Amb. @NathalieRayes for her vision and leadership in helping make this possible! 🇺🇸🇲🇽

Plyler v. Doe has guaranteed every child access to a public education since 1982. Today, Congressional Republicans are holding a hearing to challenge that.
@MALCTx and Texas House Democrats are fighting back, demanding Congress leave Texas kids' education alone.

As of last week, registering a new vehicle in Texas now requires proof of legal presence in the U.S. This burdensome new requirement will create additional hurdles for Texas drivers—know which IDs qualify before you go. #txlege

I joined Mexican American Legislative Caucus Chairman Ramon Romero to hear from Latino leaders about the impact of immigration policies on the Dallas economy, the Texas political landscape after the primaries, and the status of federal solutions like the Dignity Act and DREAM Act.
We must keep demanding action to advance these common-sense solutions that strengthen not hurt our communities and our economy.
You can help:
• Call or email your members of Congress and urge them to support the Dignity Act, DREAM Act, and humane treatment for all undocumented individuals.
• Support immigrant advocacy organizations that protect and uplift immigrant communities.
• Stay informed and speak up for long-overdue immigration reform and to stop the targeting of immigrant communities.
• Vote - our numbers send a powerful message at every election.
Real change happens when communities stay engaged and demand action. 💪🏽 @MALCTx #txlege

Nearly a year passed before the public learned federal agents were involved in the death of a young Texan. That should never happen. Thank you, @raylopezfortx, for calling for a hearing. @ColeHefnerTX, do right by this family and let the truth come out.
.@CBSNews: “Democratic Texas state Rep. Ray Lopez…said he formally exercised authority under Rule 4, Section 6A of the Texas House Rules to compel Committee Chairman Cole Hefner, a Republican, to schedule a hearing on Martinez's death.”
