A SOONER RECORD NOBODY WANTS TO BREAK! For 9 consecutive games, Oklahoma has alternated wins and losses! W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L-W The streak began with OU’s 17-13 victory over LSU last season and continued through Saturday’s 23-15 win at Mississippi State. THE LAST TIME? 1969 — 57 YEARS AGO! That 9-game streak began with a 37-8 victory over Pittsburgh and ended the season with a 28-27 win over Oklahoma State. Oklahoma finally broke the streak by defeating SMU 28-11 in the 1970 season opener. TWO CONSECUTIVE WINS! FAST-FORWARD TO 2026 The Sooners have a chance to repeat history Saturday against South Carolina. A loss would extend the alternating streak to 10 games, setting a new mark. But a WIN would end the streak at nine! And just like in 1970, all it takes is TWO WINS IN A ROW! Sometimes the best way to make history is to STOP making it! #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

OKLAHOMA FOOTBALL — THE CFI REPORT Through 7 Games | 2026 Season OVERALL CFI: 115.3 Offensive CFI: 82.8 Defensive CFI: 147.8 CFI Rating Guide: 100 = Average | Higher is Better THE GOOD NEWS: Oklahoma’s defense continues to perform at an outstanding level, nearly 48 points above the FBS average! THE CONCERN: The Sooner offense remains 17.2 points below average. But there is a little encouraging news! Since our six-game report: Overall CFI: 114.0 → 115.3 ⬆ Offensive CFI: 79.0 → 82.8 ⬆ Defensive CFI: 149.0 → 147.8 ⬇ The offense is showing some improvement, but there’s still a considerable gap between the two sides of the football. Oklahoma’s defense is playing like a championship contender. Its offense is still trying to catch up! #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

OKLAHOMA vs. SOUTH CAROLINA 2026 CFI Ratings — Through 7 Games OKLAHOMA Overall: 115.3 Offense: 82.8 Defense: 147.8 SOUTH CAROLINA Overall: 118.1 Offense: 125.1 Defense: 111.1 CFI Rating Guide: 100 = Average | Higher is Better TWO TEAMS — TWO VERY DIFFERENT STORIES! Only 2.8 points separate these teams in Overall CFI. But look closer! South Carolina holds a 42.3-point advantage on offense, while Oklahoma enjoys a 36.7-point advantage on defense. The Gamecocks are powered by their offense. The Sooners continue to rely heavily on their defense. Nearly identical overall ratings, but two completely different paths to get there! #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

Great 96yd drive just before half for the Sooners, longest drive by Oklahoma since their Cotton Bowl appearance vs. Florida on 12//30/2020 when OU had a 97yd drive in 8 plays for a Touchdown in the 4th Qrt. Sooners win that one 55-20 victory over the Gators.

OKLAHOMA vs. MISSISSIPPI STATE — CFI PREVIEW After six games, the Sooners head to Starkville for the first-ever meeting between Oklahoma and Mississippi State. 2026 CFI RATINGS OKLAHOMA (6 Games) Overall CFI: 114 Offensive CFI: 79 Defensive CFI: 149 MISSISSIPPI STATE Overall CFI: 109 Offensive CFI: 118 Defensive CFI: 99 CFI Rating Guide: 100 = Average | Higher is Better THE STORY: Oklahoma’s defense continues to perform at an elite level, while the offense remains well below average. Mississippi State presents almost the opposite profile, with a productive offense and a defense rated near average. AN INTERESTING CONNECTION: Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby served as Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator for two seasons. His OU offensive CFI ratings: 2022 — 118 2023 — 141 Now Lebby faces his former team for the first time as a head coach. Lebby’s 2023 Oklahoma offense earned a CFI of 141, compared with the Sooners’ current 79? That’s a 62-point difference. Two teams. Two very different strengths. An intriguing matchup in Starkville. #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

Sooner Born 59, Here what CFI say about 1978. Oklahoma Overall CFI Rating 146.9 USC CFI 133.7, Alabama CFI 129.0 As Barry Switzer said about the 1978 season, "Oklahoma is the only Team to beat Every Team it's played"
Replying to @MBrooks02
Switzer 78 team should’ve won the Championship that season. Billy doesn’t fumble on the 2 yard line we are probably chasing 9 or 10 instead of 8

BARRY SWITZER — THE REST OF THE STORY! JamesSoonerFan asked me: “Mike, I saw a stat that Coach Switzer only lost ONE game decided by 3 points or less. At Nebraska in 1978. Is that true?” YES! But that’s only HALF the story! During his 16 seasons at Oklahoma, Barry Switzer’s record in games decided by 3 points or fewer was an astonishing: 17 WINS 1 LOSS 4 TIES 17-1-4! His ONLY loss? At Nebraska in 1978. And THAT, my friends, is why we call him “THE KING!” #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

🏈 OKLAHOMA vs. KENTUCKY — CFI COMPARISON A look at the numbers heading into Saturday’s matchup. OKLAHOMA (5 Games) Offensive CFI: 81.5 Defensive CFI: 150.0 Overall CFI: 115.8 KENTUCKY Offensive CFI: 117.0 Defensive CFI: 99.3 Overall CFI: 108.2 📊 CFI Rating Guide: 100 = Average | Higher is Better An interesting matchup of contrasting strengths. Oklahoma’s defense continues to perform at an elite level, while Kentucky brings a considerably stronger offensive rating. The Sooners hold a 7.6-point advantage in overall CFI, but the biggest question may be whether Oklahoma’s offense can find some momentum against a Kentucky defense rated just below average. Two teams, two very different statistical profiles. Saturday should tell us a little more about both. #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

OKLAHOMA FOOTBALL — 2026 CFI RATINGS Through 5 games, including Saturday’s victory over Texas: Overall CFI: 115.8 Offensive CFI: 81.5 Defensive CFI: 150.0 A tale of two very different units. Oklahoma’s defense continues to perform at an ELITE level, while the offense, with a CFI of just 81.5, remains among the lowest-rated in Sooner history. The 68.5-point difference between the two units tells quite a story. The Sooners have plenty to celebrate following their victory over Texas, particularly on the defensive side of the football. The defense has established its identity. The offense is still searching for its own. Five games down, plenty of football left to play. #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

Every Win was a surprise in the Blake years. Coach Blake only won 12 games in 3 years, 5 of those Wins were 4th Quarter Comeback Wins. Amazing. !!!
How about John Blake with 5 in 3 years? Now that is wild!

The TCU game has to be among the most unlikely comebacks in OU history

OU trailed 7-9, Midway through the 4th Quarter, Jerald Moore took a sideline pass from Eric Moore and raced 72yds for the Winning TD....

Replying to @MBrooks02
I was trying to figure out with Schnellenberger, but I believe it was Missouri... down 9-7 and Jerald Moore turned a screen pass into a long touchdown. Hate to give Lincoln Riley credit for anything 6 4th quarter comebacks in 5 years is pretty impressive

SOONER FOOTBALL HISTORY | THE COMEBACK KINGS 50 YEARS? NO. 50 COMEBACKS! Oklahoma’s thrilling victory over Texas last Saturday marked the 50th time since 1937 that the Sooners entered the fourth quarter trailing and rallied to avoid defeat! Over nearly 90 years of Oklahoma football history, 11 different head coaches have accomplished the feat. OU FOURTH-QUARTER COMEBACKS BY HEAD COACH 1. Bud Wilkinson (1947–63) — 10 2. Barry Switzer (1973–88) — 9 3. Bob Stoops (1999–2016) — 6 3t. Lincoln Riley (2017–21) — 6 5. Chuck Fairbanks (1967–72) — 5 5t John Blake (1996–98) — 5 7. Brent Venables (2022–present) — 4 8. Gomer Jones (1964–65) — 2 9. Jim Mackenzie (1966) — 1 9t. Gary Gibbs (1989–94) — 1 7t Howard Schnellenberger (1995) — 1 A HISTORICAL FOOTNOTE: Of those 50 fourth-quarter rallies, 49 ended in victory. The lone exception came in 1976, when Barry Switzer’s Sooners rallied to tie Texas, 6–6. The coaches change. The decades pass. But one thing remains constant: Never count out the Oklahoma Sooners! #OUDNA #BoomerSooner

🏈 A Proud Papa Moment! That grandson of mine, Major Brooks, had himself quite a week! The Sophomore left-handed QB at Tulsa Lincoln Christian was named Player of the Week following the Bulldogs’ impressive 55–0 victory! Major’s numbers were outstanding: 🏈 8 of 9 passing (88.9%) 🏈 182 passing yards 🏈 3 touchdown passes 🏈 All in just ONE HALF of football! Not a bad night’s work for the young lefty!
Congratulations to our Players of the Week for our game against Heavener!

SOONER FOOTBALL — A LITTLE TEXAS FUN! There’s nothing quite like beating Texas! And speaking of winning in the Lone Star State, how about these numbers from Oklahoma football history? 45 — Wins in the Cotton Bowl. 50 — Wins in the city of Dallas. 103 — Wins in the state of Texas. 172 — Wins against Texas-based college football teams. They say everything is bigger in Texas. Apparently, that includes Oklahoma’s WIN TOTAL! 😂 #OUDNA #BoomerSooner
