If, as Helen McEntee has proposed, Irish troops are deployed to Lebanon as part of the EU Security Mission, then they'll be de facto participants in a Lebanese civil war against Hezbollah, at the behest of the Israeli government. Via Senator @TomClonan Link below

Well we'd better elect him and pay him well. Otherwise we could lose him to the better pay he'd surely get in English politics.

This week FF, FG & Independent government will seek to delete the Triple Lock. This is designed to plug Ireland into an EU military block. This is the biggest sale of Irish democratic sovereignty since the EU Migration Pact.

Simon Harris has 10 Special Advisers, each being paid a minimum of €100k, and up to a maximum of €182k. His Govt has just announced that they are scrapping the living wage their own low pay commission recommended. You’re not angry enough.

Advocacy groups target TDs to vote down State’s spinal services inquiry, as it excludes ‘hundreds of children’ Maeve Sheehan/ Deirdre Barry Families are preparing to mount a political campaign to establish a public tribunal of investigation into the care provided to children with spina bifida and scoliosis, after a scoping report recommended a largely private inquiry Families and advocacy groups have criticised the proposed timeframe and scope, saying they exclude a wider history of long waiting lists, young adults whose treatment began before 2019, and events leading to the commitment in 2017 by the then health minister Simon Harris that no child would wait more than four months for surgery. “Our hope would be that there are enough people in government that can see the issues, that can see the concern, that will want to do right by the families, and that they will vote it down,” she told the Sunday Independent. Ms Sherratt @GillSherratt23 said families would be seeking support from Government backbenchers. Claire Cahill, @ClarCahill co-founder of the Scoliosis Advocacy Network, described the proposed inquiry as a “commission of exclusion” and said that nothing short of a public tribunal would satisfy families. Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has defended the report’s recommendation for private sittings, on the basis that this model would encourage participation of families. However, solicitor Raymond Bradley, managing partner of Malcomson Law, said that under the recommended proposal, hundreds of families could be excluded from the process. #BackUs #JusticeforHarvey #PublicInquiryNOW #Scoliosis independent.ie/irish-news/he…

Refusal to adequately care for children should eclipse all other national news highlights. Decades of medical, institutional, and political controversies has led to passive sympathy when sustained collective activism is a moral priority. #PublicInquiryNOW
#PublicInquiryNOW A woman has told how her teenage son has been left with i noperable scoliosis after hopes of surgery were dashed. Paddy Murphy 0' Connor (16), from Headford, Co Galway, was born with spina bifida and now has a 100-degree curve that has impacted his ribcage. "Paddy's ribcage is rotated because of his curve which in turn leads him to not being able to breathe properly,"' his mother Megan Murphy said. She was speaking after the death last month of nine-year-old Harvey Morrison Sherratt from Clondalkin, Dublin, who also had spina bifida and scoliosis, but waited nearly three years for surgery. "We believe that if intervention was made at an earlier stage he would possibly have had risk-free surgery," Ms Murphy said. "He now lives with a 100-degree curve that will progress over time. The only positive is that he is at the end of his own growing stage so it will progress slightly slower." #PublicInquiryNOW #BackUs #JusticeforHarvey #JusticeforPaddy independent.ie/irish-news/he…

Stephen & Gillian have shown immense dignity in their campaign for answers to the death of their child Harvey [RIP] . As have all the families. A public inquiry was promised by government to ensure transparency - the child-centred truth that was committed to, has been denied by opting for a private commission. Please support the advocates and parents behind, @scolionetwork @SBH_PAG - getting this right for all the children is paramount. 2025 The Government has agreed to a statutory public inquiry into spina bifida and complex scoliosis services. It has been noted that #simonharristd has been very quiet on the #scoliosis issue.. The planned WHITEWASH SCOPE, is not acceptable to families. The issues started long before 2019 , a PUBLIC enquiry needs to be held. No less will be acceptable, we need change which means we need accountability #carecantwait #justiceforHarvey
A gentle reminder - “by the end of this year (2017) no child will wait longer for a scoliosis procedure than 4 months”. Aug 2018 and children continue to languish on lists. Do you still feel ashamed @SimonHarrisTD ?

This time last year Aontú brought forward a motion of no confidence in Simon Harris on the damage done to children through CHI. His government then promised the families of children damaged a full public inquiry. This week the government have reneged on that commitment.

It was agreed to bring a memo to cabinet that would in principle be a ‘public tribunal of inquiry’. They told us what we wanted to hear in the room and then did whatever they wanted when they left

The Senator has been treated for a serious illness in that time.
