New pinned post because my last one was clearly outdated. I’m still more active on Bluesky but I semi-returned to Twitter because I’m passionate about anime and physical media and want to speak more about its erasure and cultural erosion in more places. Update over lol

I get so irritated when I look at my Black Clover sets and remember Funimation used the exact same key visual for the season 3 set and the season 4 limited edition. Not the worst sin they committed but wtf

Yes, this is a major caveat I forgot to mention. The ratio is not as bad as Crunchyroll but a number of Sentai shows remain locked behind streaming. But their consistency means there’s probably a good reason. The JP Blu-rays of Whisper Me a Love Song were canceled so no US BDs.

Plenty of Sentai licenses don't get home video releases though? Among others, I'm still never going to get over Luminous Witches being the only World Witches anime without a dub or NA video release since Sentai got it instead of FUNiroll who had all the previous entries

There are others of course. I’m still disappointed there was never a release in the US for Key’s Prima Doll for example.

Fun math: Sentai licensed only 13 seasonal anime in 2025 but by the end of 2026 will have released all 13 (100%) and even some 2026 titles. Crunchyroll licensed 132* seasonal anime in 2025 but by December will have only released 20 (15%). Obvious who cares about physical media.

* I excluded long runners like One Piece and Conan, Aniplex shows, shows from previous years without a Blu-ray and anything ostensibly not CR’s home video responsibility like Precure.

But still Crunchyroll licenses 10x the anime and yet releases about the same amount per month. Absolutely maddening.

That’s awesome! Now how about you release another Blu-ray and put an end to this nonsense?

A gift Jun Maeda gave us was the anime debut of LiSA. Before Demon Slayer, SAO, before Fate/Zero, LiSA was introduced to anime fans as the singing voice of Yui in Angel Beats! Maeda composed and wrote the lyrics for this OP. Thank you, Maeda-san ❤️

This sucks, man. Angel Beats! and CLANNAD had a huge impact on me. Anime wouldn’t be what it is today without Maeda. I wish I could say something more but I honestly can’t think of the words right now. Fuck…

Spotlighting my collection #3: Everyone is suddenly talking about it again so I’d like to show off all my Attack on Titan limited editions! 10 years to get all 4 seasons on limited editions. So many memories in these releases. Looking forward to getting that Last Attack 4K!

Spotlighting my collection #2: The Future Diary! In honor of its 15th. Still have the old Funimation limited edition DVDs (though they no longer work). Glad I upgraded a few years later to the Blu-ray with the OVA because it’s now deeply out of print. Still streaming…for now.

Two more Funimation essentials added to the collection; Garo Vanishing Line and Casshern Sins! Both <$25. Now for the arduous task of tracking down Garo Crimson Moon.

An Amazon streaming exclusive coming to physical media courtesy of GKIDS! Definitely an anime publisher to watch. Though I’m not sure how I feel about all these store exclusives.

Pisses me off to no end that all the major studios have raging hard ons for super limited steelbooks that immediately sell out every time they pop in stock. Sometimes it’s the only way to get a 4K copy. Scalpers are already selling these *preorders* for at least 3x the price.
Where Can I Buy That

The OBAA steelbook went up for preorder while I was at work and sold out before I got home. Haven’t been able to get one since. It’s maddening.

Crunchyroll Jan 2027 preorders should be announced later this week. Here’s what I’m most hoping to be announced: Gachiakuta May I Ask For One Final Thing? Frieren S2 MHA Final Season Sentenced to Be a Hero Tanya the Evil movie Fire Force S3 Tamon’s B-Side Trigun Stargaze
