Union members across the country are organizing today en masse against the corporate takeover of our politics. Beautiful thing to see.
It’s the corporations or the people. One or the other. We KNOW which side we’re on! #MoneyPowerRespect #WorkersVote

At least $50 billion for another pipeline. $82 billion in new military spending in 5 years. $300 billion in corporate welfare and mega incentives at an investment summit. But the cupboard is bare for Parks Canada. Despite the heroic efforts of the @psac_afpc workers who'll remain, camping will be chaos next summer. If you’re not a big corporation or foreign investor, you might just be invisible to this government.
2,671 PSAC members at Parks Canada received notice this week that their positions may be cut. These cuts put our environment, natural and cultural heritage, parks, and national historic sites at risk. psacunion.ca/psac-raises-ala…

Canadians can’t afford rent. Food bank use is at a record high. Wages are stagnant while the rich are getting richer than ever before. Of all the people who could use this kind of federal support right now, venture capitalists are at the bottom of that list.

WHEN YOU REALIZE THE BABY BOOM WASN'T JUST SOLDIERS COMING HOME HORNY. It was soldiers coming home to the GI Bill, free college, 0% down home loans, and low interest business loans. It was strong unions. Pensions. A house that cost 2 years of salary. It was confidence that the future was actually going to be better than the present. That's what produced a baby boom. Not romance. Security. You want a higher birth rate now? Give people a future where they know their kids will actually be okay. That's the whole formula. It's not complicated. It's just expensive, and nobody in charge wants to pay for it twice.

🇨🇦 The Equalization formula that many Albertans blame the federal Liberals for was actually designed by an Alberta civil servant (Al O’Brien) and turned into law by Stephen Harper’s Conservative government. When the system was renewed without changes, the Liberals simply kept the Conservative design. The system Albertans protest most was built by Alberta political leaders. • Stephen Harper (MP for Calgary Southwest). • Jason Kenney (MP for Calgary Southeast). • Rona Ambrose (MP for Edmonton—Spruce Grove). • Jim Prentice (MP for Calgary Centre-North). • Diane Ablonczy (MP for Calgary—Nose Hill). #CdnPoli #AbPoli #Equalization #Alberta

It should be illegal for Israel’s top arms producer to purchase a Canadian company. Elbit Systems is complicit in the genocide of Palestinians. Cancel the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement, enact sanctions and a two-way arms embargo now.

This is private equity, this is what it does. Buy up businesses, run them into the ground, and rip them apart for short-term profit. The developers at BioWare know how to run the studio. They know how to make the games we all love. They should be given the first opportunity - and the federal support - to buy it and run it themselves. And if we want to avoid the Mass Effect effect in Canada, we should be keeping private equity out, not welcoming it in. pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/…

NEW: An Ontario cancer patient is taking the Ford government to court for refusing to fund a U.S. treatment that could save her life. "People are just being told to die." The government pointed to cost savings as one of the reasons it is limiting which patients can receive funding for out-of-country treatments. Story: thetrillium.ca/news/health/p…

Yep. They were fake. Because apparently when Zelensky took out the RUSSIAN data centers most of Alberta separatists immediately disappeared of social media and it also tells you a lot about Danielle Smith’s connections with Russia. I told you before. Danielle is a plant.

Canada cannot afford to lose its steel industry. It's time to nationalize Stelco. Stelco’s American owners have broken their commitments. Their CEO supports Trump’s tariffs, which are designed to deindustrialize our economy and destroy our manufacturing base. More than 500 workers in Hamilton are facing layoffs. If we’re serious about saving these jobs and the Canadian steel industry, Canada must nationalize Stelco. Read my full statement here: ndp.ca/news/ndp-leader-prime…

NEW: In his first year running Ontario's largest school board, the Ford government's TDSB supervisor logged more than twice as many meetings with the board's $20B real estate arm than he did with parent groups, calendar entries reveal. The FOI records offer a rare glimpse into the supervisor’s day-to-day work, raising concerns that parents have taken a back seat under provincial supervision. Story: thetrillium.ca/news/educatio…

I wonder if there's been a reduction in Alberta separatist activity too. I suspect the answer is yes.

It would be entirely reasonable to believe, at this point, that the RCMP either doesn't have the courage to pursue this case, is entirely inept, or doesn't believe that justice delayed is justice denied.

NEW: Ontario’s Health Ministry spent $13.3M on advertising last year, new FOI records show. That brings our tally of the Ford government's advertising spending to more than $90 million across five ministries. The health minister's office says advertising remains an "important tool" for informing families about programs & initiatives. Opposition says the government should be using that funding on life-saving treatments or relieving hospital pressures. thetrillium.ca/news/health/o…

Let's get the timeline clear here: 1. Career Colleges Ontario warns the Ford government about suspicious OSAP activity in January 2023. Ford lets private career colleges abuse the system for years. 2. Earlier this summer, we learn that just seven private career colleges received $385M in grants, the same amount as all public colleges in Ontario combined. 3. Instead of holding bad actors accountable, Ford punishes all students who rely on OSAP. Young people are already struggling to get by in an economy stacked against them. Doug Ford needs to reverse these OSAP cuts, take accountability for his own mismanagement, and hold the bad actors responsible instead of punishing all students.
BREAKING: The Ford government is halting OSAP funding to private career colleges and referring the sector to the OPP after KPMG uncovered "serious concerns" over application integrity. Audit red flags: shared ownership, immigration recruiters, lack of student validation, and suspicious geographic application clusters — Policorner

Ontario’s public services minister faced questions on ticket resale enforcement, FOI changes and Supply Ontario’s Staples deal this week. The Ford government has issued $45K in penalties to StubHub and SeatGeek — but couldn’t say exactly how many inspectors are enforcing the new rules. Stephen Crawford was also asked about cuts to the program overseeing FOI policy, and why Supply Ontario awarded a $66M classroom supplies contract to U.S.-owned Staples.
