#mnwild: Some chatter about the drought from the Boldy/Ek/Tarasenko line. Over the last 6 games when Kaprizov/Rossi/Johanssom have seemingly been scoring at will, 12-14-91 have just 1 5v5 goal in about 41 minutes together.
That said, they’ve been tasked with shutting down the top line in every game in each of those 6 games and have allowed just 2 goals against in those same minutes.
Tough to match up analytics perfectly, but my estimate is roughly 55-60% of their 5v5 minutes each game have been against these lines:
Mammoth: Schmidt/Keller/Schmaltz - 1 GA
Sharks: Celebrini/Smith/Toffoli - 0 GA
Jets: Connor/Vilardi/Scheifele - 1 GF
Penguins: Crosby/Rust/Hallander - 1 GA
Canucks: Boeser/Kane/Pettersson - 0 GA
Predators: Forsberg/O’Reilly/Evangelista - 0 GA
They have a 42% xG share in that time frame, so not dominating those lines, but to hold those 18 forwards to just 2 5v5 goals across 6 games is pretty darn good.
Will be interesting to see if this changes when Johansson likely joins Boldy and Ek on Friday on the Island.
I think it would behoove Hynes to try and conform the linemates and system to how Kaprizov plays the game, as opposed to limiting their superstar. Boldy and Rossi kept up just fine #mnwild
