As a father, you always dream of the perfect blessings for your daughter as she starts her new journey. Yesterday, that dream became the greatest honour our family could ever experience.
We are profoundly grateful and overwhelmed with gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for gracing our daughter’s wedding and blessing my children. Knowing how punishing his schedule is, it breaks my heart to think he must have sacrificed his sleep and rest hours just to stand with my family. His incredible humility completely bowled us over and moved us to tears. Thank you Prime Minister Sahib, for making a father’s dream come true.

There was a time in Punjab when the harvest season meant that the fields echoed with the thunderous beat of the dhol and the vibrant energy of the bollyian. The collective laughter and the shared spirit of the community made months of backbreaking labour feel like a festival.
Tractor engines have replaced the music and the traditional celebrations are a thing of the past. What took months now takes a few days. We have traded the sweat of our brows for the rapid efficiency but in doing so, the beautiful romance of our culture has fallen silent.
Progress has arrived, but the golden, soulful heartbeat of the old Punjab harvest is deeply missed.
पंजाब का एक दौर ऐसा भी था, जब हाड़ी और सावणी की फ़सल का मौसम आता था, तो खेत ढोल की थाप और बोलियों की चमक से खिल उठते थे। पूरे गाँव का मिल-बैठकर हँसना, वह आपसी मेल-जोल और अपनापन… महीनों की कमर तोड़ मेहनत को भी एक मेले में बदल देते थे।
अब ट्रैक्टर के इंजनों ने उस संगीत की जगह ले ली है और वे रिवायती रौनकें अब बीते वक़्त की कहानियाँ बनकर रह गई हैं। जो काम पहले पूरी-पूरी ऋतुएँ माँगता था, अब चंद दिनों में पूरा हो जाता है। हमने तेज़ी तो हासिल कर ली, लेकिन अपने माथे के पसीने का सौदा कर लिया। ऐसा करते हुए हमारी पुरानी, हसीन और रंग-बिरंगी विरासत ख़ामोश हो गई है।
तरक़्क़ी तो आ गई है, लेकिन पुराने पंजाब में फ़सल की कटाई के दौरान गूँजने वाली वह सुनहरी और रूहानी धड़कन आज भी बड़ी शिद्दत से याद आती है।

पंजाब में चिट्टे के कारोबार के विरुद्ध निर्भीक होकर खड़े होने वाले परविंदर सिंह झोटा जी की हत्या ने भगवंत मान सरकार में चरम पर पहुँच चुके चिट्टे के कारोबार और जर्जर कानून व्यवस्था को पूरी तरह बेनकाब कर दिया है। आज मानसा स्थित निवास पर पहुँचकर उनके परिजनों से मुलाकात की और इस कठिन समय में संबल दिया।
पंजाब की युवा पीढ़ी को नशे से बचाने के लिए किया गया उनका संघर्ष सदैव स्मरण किया जाएगा।

Reading about the inauguration of the Bulk Drug Park in Gujarat in today’s Indian Express brings deep disappointment.
During my tenure as Finance Minister of Punjab bringing this mega Pharmaceutical Drug Park to Bathinda was one of my highest priorities. I put in every effort to anchor this project for our State’s future.
Sadly, while other States pursued and executed their plans, the present Punjab Government completely abandoned the case.
What should have been Punjab’s pride is now an economic opportunity lost. A truly heavy blow to our State’s Industrial growth.

आप-दा सरकार ने पंजाब को नशे के गर्त में धकेलने में कोई कोर-कसर नहीं छोड़ी है, जिसके कारण अनेक परिवारों को अपने बच्चों को खोना पड़ा है। AAP सरकार के संरक्षण में फल-फूल रहे चिट्टा कारोबारियों के खिलाफ आवाज उठाने वाले जिन लोगों को हाल ही में अपना जीवन गँवाना पड़ा, मंगलवार (20 अक्टूबर) को उनके परिजनों से मानसा, संगरूर व गुरदासपुर में मिलूँगा। इन परिवारों ने जो खोया है, उस दुःख को शब्दों में बयान नहीं किया जा सकता। नशे के इस काले कारोबार के खिलाफ उठने वाली आवाजों को दबाने की कोशिश कभी सफल नहीं होगी और प्रदेशवासी इसका मुँहतोड़ जवाब देंगे।
भारत सरकार चिट्टा कारोबारियों को चुन-चुनकर जेल की सलाखों के पीछे भेजेगी और पंजाब सहित पूरे देश को नशे के इस कारोबार से मुक्त बनाकर रहेगी।
