Elissa Slotkin and Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield at the table. Muhammad didn’t hide what he meant on a podcast earlier this year, invoking “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘮𝘺” — Nation of Islam code for Jews — while discussing a book that accuses Jews of secretly steering American foreign policy. This isn’t a secret Benson could have missed. Jewish organizations already denounced Muhammad once this year, and the Combat Antisemitism Movement 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 after a Washington Free Beacon report exposed his record, declaring it “𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘴” the Nation of Islam. Benson promoted him anyway. Muhammad is a devoted disciple of Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam leader who has compared Jews to “𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴” and called Adolf Hitler “𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘯.” When Farrakhan branded Jews “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯” in a 2020 sermon, Muhammad posted his photo with a caption warning that “𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘦𝘸𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘬𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘪𝘮.” He has promoted Farrakhan material invoking “𝘒𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘵” against his own community and a tract claiming Jews orchestrated the slave trade. And Benson isn’t keeping her distance — she’s advertising the friendship. She shouted Muhammad out during her primary victory speech, and he says the two have “𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴.” He credits Farrakhan himself with launching his career, saying the minister pledged to be his “𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯” and “𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥” him.
