Pointing these out just makes me truly believe crypto is casino.
I also think this industry industry should be more than casino.

i used to argue hard against people who said that. i didn't want them to be right. but i think they are.
take crypto's top revenue protocols this week. remove the stablecoin issuers and the chains. what's left is what people pay for.
the top 5:
1. @hyperliquid: leverage perps
2. @Pumpfun: memecoin launchpad
3. @Collector_Crypt: pokémon gacha
4. @papertrade_xyz: 1000x perps
5. @Polymarket: betting on events
all 5 are casinos.
zoom out to the top 20: 12 are casinos, and they make 77% of the revenue.
the exceptions: an etf fee, some lending, a couple of dexs, an oracle, a wallet.
i still think crypto can be more than a casino.

Normally I'm sure you wouldn't hand your money to a stranger.
But in crypto, people do it every day, because the stranger hides behind a nice rate.
A "pot" is a place where people put money so it can earn more.
And behind every pot is a person called the curator.
The curator decides where that money actually goes.
Today @Ask_ORO pointed this out.
Most people put money in and never ask who the curator is, or how long the pot has been around.
On ORO, both are on the pot's page:
the curator's name and the date the pot started.
And you can ask the helper about the risks before you put anything in.
The rate tells you a number.
The curator tells you who you're trusting.
It's like a savings group back home
Where I'm from, a lot of people join savings groups, like ajo or esusu.
Nobody joins just because the payout sounds good.
The first questions are always:
1. Who is holding the money?
2. How long has this group been running?
3. Has anyone collected and disappeared?
Pots work the same way. But for the same old questions, we have new tools.

We use one word, oracle, for two very different jobs.
A price feed passes along a number. Telling a contract whether a rental car came back in the condition promised is a judgment, and whoever gives that answer is acting as a judge. Calling that role a data feed is how decentralization quietly ends.
@GenLayer's Intelligent Contracts are written in Python and can call the live web and a language model, so the contract reads the evidence itself. One validator proposes the verdict. The others run the contract with their own models and check whether they reach the same answer. If they do not, a new leader tries again.
The part I find most interesting comes after that. Anyone can still appeal, and then more validators review it. With no appeal, the result is final and the funds move. A contract that can be appealed looks less like code and more like a court.
Should anyone be able to appeal a contract's verdict, or only the people in the deal?
