little fact: Korean architecture is typically more colourful and in a lot of circumstances feels "smaller and newer" bc the original buildings were burnt down during Japanese occupation. For the sake of this post, the first image is Korean.

side note: The place is called Bulguksa. Its a Buddhist temple in Gyeongju, South Korea. My sister and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the site 2 years ago. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site!

In regards to the building feeling "newer", the temple was restored around late 60s to early 70s. However, the stairs that lead up to the main courtyard are original Silla constructions, going back possibly over a millenia ago
