One of the most disingenuous parts of the WoW Forever discourse is this idea that Retail is just a braindead instant queue simulator. Like, sure. The open world is piss easy outside of Heroic world tier content, and I’d LOVE to see more difficulty there. But the second we start talking about actual endgame content, Retail makes Classic look like a fucking joke. You’re not instant queuing for Normal, Heroic, or Mythic raids. You’re definitely not instant queuing into high Mythic dungeons. And at the high end, the mechanical difficulty, execution, coordination, and class knowledge Retail asks from you absolutely shits on Classic. And that’s FINE. Classic/Forever is the cozy core MMO. That’s literally part of the appeal. It’s slower, more social, more about the world and the journey, and it gives people who don’t want Retail’s competitive endgame somewhere to live. But every time someone tries to “own” a Retail player with “go back to your instant queues,” all I hear is: “I never made it past the braindead content.” Because if you genuinely think Retail is easy, there’s a pretty good chance you’re just fucking dogshit at Retail. 🤣
