I often think how so many things are out of our control. You dont choose to be born or where to be born & where you are born in turn, in a way, decides your religion, access, politics, food & heritage. In all this, you're tossed about, thinking you're in control. You're not.

Imagine investors hearing this nonsense. Who is going to be confident enough to invest in a country where laws are not guaranteed? Where your properties are at the mercy of those in power? Must everyone speak on a mic?😭
Daniel Garwe is not doing any good for President Mnangagwa's legacy. He confirms that nothing can ever be guaranteed in Zimbabwe. Laws can be changed willy-nilly to suit the appetites of those near the levers of power. Personalising the state is CRIMINAL. Ko varombo voita sei?

Social media is removing the sacredness of certain things. There are life details, pictures, events that should never make it to your social media posts. Resist the urge to show strangers your intimate details. We don't have to know everything 😭

PSYCHOLOGY TODAY The sunk cost fallacy is a cognitive bias that causes you to keep investing in something such as time, money, or emotional energy simply because you have already spent resources on it, even when continuing is no longer logical or in your best interest

The comparisons between any hot artist with Winky D are as dishonest as they are as destructive to said hot artist because they ignore one thing that makes Winky, Winky; the one thing that makes him relevant. His consistency. He isnt a "now" artist. His longevity is enviable.

Remember when I said that we are always told to let go of slavery and Colonialism so one day we are gaslighted into narratives like this one. Africans are not a monolith today and more importantly not back then. You cannot use the african elites who participated in slavery as a representation of the entire continent. Even then, most didn't willingly participate in slavery, for most it was survival at the hands of European guns. Europeans flooded the West and east African coast with firearms, ammunition, and manufactured goods. This created an existential security dilemma known as the gun-slave cycle. Participation in slavery was rarely a choice made in a vacuum; it was an existential necessity. Kingdoms that refused to participate such as the Kingdom of Benin in certain centuries or Queen Nzinga’s early resistance faced economic isolation, internal destabilization, or armed destruction by heavily armed rivals funded and supported by the Europeans. Of course how loving for Europeans to document transactions and write their half baked references, without showing the underlying structural pressure they created for their slave trade. Lastly Using Cugoano’s kidnapping to argue that "Africans were the primary culprits." is so funny. Cugoano himself explicitly condemned the entire system of european demand and African elite complicity. In his 1787 work (Thoughts and Sentiments on the Evil and Wicked Traffic of the Slavery), he clearly identified European greed and the transatlantic trade network as the root driver of internal conflicts and kidnappings in West Africa.
Africans fully participated in the slave trade at Elmina, Ghana. Trade records from the Dutch West India Company, Royal African Company, and Danish ledgers from Elmina, Cape Coast show African rulers and merchants negotiating prices, quantities, and terms with European factors. African brokers and rulers controlled who could trade and where. African-authored testimony, for example, Ottobah Cugoano, a Fante man enslaved around 1770, wrote that he was kidnapped by fellow Africans and sold into slavery. In fact the Asante expansion in modern-day Ghana involved conquering neighbours like Denkyira, Akyem, and Gonja. The prisoners taken in those wars- by Africans- supplied both the coastal trade and domestic labour. The fort archaeology from excavations at Elmina, Cape Coast, and inland Asante sites back all of this up. On your logic, the government of Ghana should be apologising for their involvement in slavery.

The way you people tweet commentary on legal issues makes me think "mazidofo aya". Then I realise you most probably also think the same when I give my uninformed opinion on topics you're well educated in. Then I get humbled real quick. Takangofanana😭

If you deep it, men will always sell us out for bums😩
If you want to understand why Africa is like this, just look at most of our male leaders. This is why colonizers had to kill matriarchy in Africa. Because women leaders were more competent. They were accountable. You couldn't just bribe them to sell the whole village. So what did colonizers do? They replaced them with greedy, corrupt men. Men they could control. And that system never left. Look at the King of Eswatini. His people don't have roads. They don't have hospitals. 70% of the country lives in poverty. Eswatini has the highest HIV rate on earth and people are dying of hunger. And what is the King doing? The man has 15 wives. He spent $24.4 million to buy 19 Rolls-Royces for them. 19! Delivered in trucks like he was sharing rice. In a country where people can't afford bread. And that was not even enough. That same year, he bought 79 BMWs. Then weeks later, another 120 BMWs. Meanwhile he already had 20 Mercedes Maybachs and a private jet he bought for himself for his 50th birthday. This is the mentality. Let the people suffer, let them die of AIDS and poverty, as long as the wives have Rolls-Royces. This is the African male leadership we inherited. And until we change it, nothing will change.

I will never understand classism among Black people. We are, collectively, among the most economically disadvantaged populations in the world, yet we are busy creating social hierarchies among ourselves. If you think you have made it as a Black person, others don't think so.

Zimbabwe needs to follow Kenya's example & establish its own version of the Environment & Land Court, with jurisdiction over all environmental issues. Decongest the High Court, introduce expert decisions & create jobs. Also, give environmental issues priority.
