My son had to read Fahrenheit 451 for English. Read it in 4 days. Loved it. Wrote an essay on it and loved it more. Found out he has to do a close reading journal with 90 quotes and reflections from the book. Now he hates it.

Five minutes into my 1st summer read & I'm smacked by this nugget: "If you choose courage, you will absolutely know failure, disappointment, setback, even heartbreak. That's why we call it courage. That's why it's so rare." @HatfieldElem #CougarsRead

I remember a teacher telling me, “When you’re surrounded by superstars… it makes you want to be better than you are.” That’s the power of collaboration -- the power of collective efficacy. The best teachers don’t just inspire their students; they inspire their colleagues.

I love hanging out with my Closing Circle group every Friday afternoon. Here a 1st, a 2nd & a 4th grader are working together on a Thank You poster for our cafeteria crew. @Hatfieldcougars #SEL #belonging

According to @burgessdave when you provide an uncommon experience your students will reward you with uncommon effort. Today these 2nd graders are doing 4th grade work all day and they do not even know it. #setthestagetoengage #bestdayever #gratefulforgrants @CrimsonViewCats

As teachers, we are accustomed to giving a quick check/ticket out. However, how often do we ask students how we made them feel? #morethandata #allkids #bhegameon

I don’t remember who came up with this... but I love the idea of creating “learning experiences” rather than developing “lesson plans.” Kids remember experiences.
