TNG is the one where half the writers had philosophy and lit minors and DS9 is where half the writers had history and sociology minors.
TNG is learning life lessons from your parents as a kid, DS9 is figuring out how to implement them as an adult in an unkind, chaotic universe. Theory vs Practice

In 1964, a tuxedo cat named Bootsie Mitten was sent to the Harvard Club of New York because he just didn't fit in with suburban life in Connecticut. At the club, he lounged in leather chairs and enjoyed crabmeat from the kitchen. Within his first 18 days, he caught 5 mice in the bar. Bootsie stayed there for 13 years.

One reason I’ve never had much time for debates about Star Trek in “right/left” or “capitalist/socialist” terms is the show, especially TNG, excelled at creating moral set-pieces in which intelligent writers and consummate actors explored interesting human problems with subtlety and sympathy for the lack of easy answers. Even when Picard arrived at the lib answer, it wasn’t glib— it was never easy, and often came with an appreciation for the potentially valid alternatives. The hand-wavy future science, the ‘imagine a world with no money’ stuff, etc. was really just about getting around certain problems in order to get more directly at others. It’s a kind of dramatic ‘mutatis mutandis’, and it’s why nerding out on the physics of light speed, or the economics of galactic exploration, is an exercise in missing the point.
Genuine question: is there anything on television right now that would spend four uninterrupted minutes on two people having a moral/philosophical conversation, and what’s more, it would be considered routine for the series?

Godzilla autists reminding me that it's extremely easy to mindbreak people if your opinion doesn't neatly fit into "Group A" or "Group B"
Chris is correct. I've loved Godzilla and other Kaiju films since I was a child, and even then I thought the costumes and effects were goofy as hell. Because they are. But that doesn't ultimately matter, because they're still cool and carried by other things like the music.

This is exactly why skipping the first two seasons is a bad idea. If you do that, you won't have the full context for how utterly ridiculous it is for Q to be in this situation to start with. Sure, it'd be superficially amusing, but devoid of all deeper meaning.
With the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart, I'm seeing numbers of people being interested in checking out Star Trek. This is one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise Deja-Q Season 3 episode 13 Q, a god-like being stripped of his powers and left stranded on the Enterprise explores what it means to be a human alongside the Android Data. Two of my favorite characters together for an entire episode, presenting two diametric viewpoints. To this day I sometimes quantify how bad of a mood I'm in with chocolate sundaes.

It might blow your mind to find that I don't dislike any of the costumes. I never have.
No way in hell someone is slandering the costumes of godzilla even in the showa era these were amazingly detailed and designed

It's so fucking funny how people will completely ignore an entire body of text so they can pretend to be mad at something. Monster X was -not- from the early films, you fucking moron.
"The costumes were goofy" *cough cough* MONSTER X

I love this retarded era where you're not allowed to like things that you're even mildly critical of, even if that criticism is nuanced. It's great. Really brings peoples' stupidity to the forefront.

You are literally providing examples of LATER Godzilla films which I EXPLICITLY STATED were not goofy costumes and effects.
The Heisei movies weren't that goofy in the effects department or the costume department, that was mainly just for GvKG with a bit of the acting, not with the Kaiju

France has deployed military personnel to protect churches. There is no need to defend mosques because, for some unknown reason, the violent rioters never attack them. Weird.
In Paris right now the army is deployed with weapons in hand to defend churches. And we all know why. No Christian would ever attack a church.
