Starter or role player. Varsity or JV. Practice, scrimmage, or game. Exhibition or playoffs. Doesn’t matter. The mindset never changes: Prepare. Compete. Dominate. Circumstances don’t dictate your standard or your preparation, your habits, and your mindset do. Every. Single. Day.

Should be a top three topic for many teams as the season begins …
Shot Selection needs to be coached DAILY! Players need to understand what shots you're hunting, and which shots won't be tolerated. We want to take as many uncontested shots as possible.

😳
This is the most chaotic, bizarre free throw shooting form I think I have ever seen

With the start of the basketball season on the horizon, it is important for high school student-athletes (and just as importantly parents) to understand how basketball season presents some unique dynamics compared to several other high school sports. Understanding these dynamics (and acknowledging how these dynamics present challenges for all involved) is important and can better foster positive relationships between student-athletes (and parents) and coaches in the hopes of having a rewarding and successful season. @WisBBYearbook @JordanLoppnow @ColtonWilson23 @hshoops25 @Uorangemen2 @BrettPickartsWI @WisBCA

This player is absolutely on my must see list this season! Has added some strength and a strong and confident finish in the lane, and at the basket. Has defenders on their heels with quick pop and endless range.

Every teammate should be able to answer 3 questions: 1. What does this team need from me? 2. Can my teammates count on me? 3. Am I making my teammates better? Great teams are built by players who stop asking, “What’s in it for me?” and start asking, “How can I help us win?”

A bad teammate can hurt a team more than a missed shot ever will. Complaining.
Blaming.
Disconnecting.
Only competing when things are going well. Talent matters. But the players who communicate, encourage, compete, and stay connected are the ones coaches trust when games get hard.

When choosing an AAU team, ask yourself one question: Am I joining a team where the coach is going to TEACH me, DEVELOP me, and make me a better basketball player? Or am I joining a team where the coach is just a really good salesman who recruited the best 8–10 players and rolls the ball out? There’s a BIG difference between recruiting talent and developing talent. Don’t just chase the best team. Find the best environment to GET BETTER. Development > Winning.

Something I wish I would've understood when I was younger: How much time coaches spend thinking about what's best for the team.

The best teams don’t rely on stars, they rely on habits & standards. Every player owns their role. Every rep, every play, every ounce of effort adds up. Because when one person locks in, it pushes everyone else higher. The power of one becomes the power of all. That’s teamwork!
