My Framer template earnings since the 3.0 launch:
Month — Total — Polar + Dub
Jul — $11,200 — $4,987 + $6,213
Aug — $9,980 — $4,331 + $5,649
Sep — $8,025 — $2,212 + $5,813
Tomorrow I'll make the rest of my templates free. Time to move on.
Let's be honest: nobody knows how to launch new products on a new marketplace. It's flooded. The positioning has shifted from an amazing design tool and website builder to an AI agent. More products, less quality, and nobody will reverse it.
Don't tell me about distribution. The Framer marketplace was the source of truth for people looking to buy a solid product. I never believed anyone who had "their own channels." If you want to prove me wrong, just share your stats in DM, I'm fine with apologizing.
If you're starting, consider other opportunities. It's painful to see people sharing their $9 earning screenshots. I know it could be a small win for someone, but let's be realistic. Just do the simple math.
Currently, I'm helping some clients with their websites in stealth mode. Enjoying the predictability and communication. People still need nice custom solutions. Lucky to have a bit of a reputation in the Framer community. Feel free to DM if you know someone who needs assistance.
It was a great rally since 2023. I wish it could continue, but the world is different. Time to adapt and become different as well.
Grateful.

Look, I can only share my experience.
In my opinion, this was a mix of a number of factors.
Now, the easiest narrative to push is to say AI is the sole reason this has all happened.
AI has obviously affected things, but it is not the only reason this collapse happened as fast as it did.
In my opinion, there were a number of things that accelerated it:
1. Removing quality control, opening the marketplace, and allowing it to be flooded with 7,000+ new templates most of which are poor quality or copycats.
2. A new ranking algorithm that just didn't work, hence why it's been changed so much and still continues to be changed. And because of the point above, it's understandably a very tough task to balance now.
3. A new redesign of the marketplace/community that prioritised the community over the marketplace and conversion (which was well documented by all the angry creators here on X over the last few months) that eventually got changed back to basically how it was before the update. But that alone was no longer enough to repair the points above.
So all of these, coupled with the way the industry is moving with AI is the reason why it all fell apart so quickly for so many creators in my opinion.
It's completely normal for companies to change and evolve and there to be a downward curve over time, but the way this fell off a cliff from June 16th, it's quite obvious to see there's more to it than AI.
It's unfortunate, but like I say, it's business.

Framer just quietly ended the template business as you know it.
When I started there were maybe 1k @framer templates on the whole marketplace, and with a quality product the hardest part was just getting approved.
Now anyone can publish ∞ templates a day with no approval, so we're heading toward 1k a week.
When everyone can publish anything, the hard part is just getting noticed.
The best designer no longer wins.
The designer people actually follow does.
That's uncomfortable for a lot of us who just wanted to build, but it's where this is going.
Nobody finds you by accident anymore.
From my experience, the @Framer Marketplace has been far more effective than posting on X. If your template is top-notch, the marketplace brings the right traffic and serious buyers straight to you—just like it does for @bynneh. People hunting for templates are searching the marketplace, not scrolling through X.
I took a 3-week break from social media to run an experiment:
How much does posting on X actually drive @framer template sales?
Turns out not much at all.
My Fabrica template generated over $15,000 in just 3.5 weeks without any marketing tweets or posts.
Absolutely incredible results.
While my established X account and website certainly help with credibility, the Framer Marketplace itself drove the vast majority of sales.
It is the real MVP that does all the heavy lifting for you:
- Massive organic reach
- Built-in audience actively looking for quality products
- Equal opportunities for everyone
- Minimal marketing needed if your product is solid
You can focus on creating brilliant templates while they handle the distribution.
This may change when more designers flood the market, but for now, that's the reality.
For template creators, the data is clear: spend your time on product excellence first, marketing second.
