COPA Passed. Don’t Expect It to Reshape New York City Multifamily. Look at what actually passed. Earlier versions of COPA would have given qualified nonprofits a right of first refusal on a broad swath of the city’s multifamily stock. The market pushed back hard, and for good reason. The revived bill is a different animal. It targets a narrower group of distressed and at-risk buildings, not the entire multifamily market. Nonprofits and certain city-designated joint ventures generally get 20 days to express interest, 70 days to make an offer, and a possible 15-day window to match a third-party bid. @bradlander @LtGovDelgado @GovKathyHochul Source: Commercial Observer

Jihan Lee and Takahiro Sakaeda Are Taking TBD Gimbap Permanent On Aug. 15, the Mets’ Korean Heritage Night drew 34,737 fans to Citi Field, and Lee says TBD Gimbap sold close to 1,000 rolls there. On Oct. 8, it popped up at Taste of Asia in Madison Square Park. The partners now plan to give the concept a permanent Manhattan home backed by a new commissary kitchen. I spent years in a sushi kitchen, where the craft is treated like art, and gimbap deserves the same seriousness. The rice, the seasoning and the way every filling is cut and layered so each bite is balanced—that’s technique. I wanted New Yorkers to see that gimbap isn’t “Korean sushi” or a convenience-store afterthought. Made right, it’s one of the best handheld meals in the world. @MetMuseum @EaterNY @GuggenheimMuseum Source: NY Observer

What Aaron Glenn needs to do to rescue his Jets job for next year Make New York Post a Preferred Source .google-preferred-sources{display:none} Jets head coach Aaron Glenn reacts on the sideline during the game against the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 25, 2026. Charles Wenzelberg/NY Post After Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins, it is difficult to see a path for Aaron Glenn to keep his job into 2027 . The 28-25 defeat was one of those losses that feels hard to come back from . The Jets have had two embarrassing losses this season. The first was to the Bears, who ran 89 plays against the Jets, and then Sunday’s loss to the previously winless Dolphins . The Jets were supposed to be past the embarrassment stage this season. Those losses were a theme of last season, particularly in the final month of the year. @NYDailyNews @Mets @NYGiants Source: NY Post Sports

New York City’s Rent Freeze: Where It Stands Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s rent freeze , promised on the campaign trail, has only recently taken effect, but it doesn’t mean that landlords aren’t already feeling the pain. And it certainly doesn’t mean that it won’t be defeated in a pitched and ongoing court battle . Costs are increasing for property owners across the board at a time when they can’t ask more from their tenants, which begs an assortment of questions. So here’s a breakdown of what the rent freeze is, how it came about, why it’s controversial and more. @PeterSchiff @RayDalio @FortuneMagazine Source: Commercial Observer

Jets won’t see Fernando Mendoza in Week 8 clash vs. Raiders The Jets won’t immediately face the quarterback that they missed out on at the 2026 NFL Draft come Sunday. The Las Vegas Raiders are sticking with the veteran Kirk Cousins for their Week 8 meeting with Gang Green on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. Speculation had grown louder that the Raiders were considering a quarterback change after losing four straight games to cancel out a surprising 3-0 start. Cousins has not been the problem, though. In seven games, he’s passed for 1,877 yards, a league-best 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. New York took edge rusher David Bailey out of Texas Tech with the No. 2 overall pick after acquiring Geno Smith from the Raiders in March. Smith is merely a placeholder for when the Jets may have an opportunity to find a franchise quarterback, which is something that has eluded them for decades. While completing 70% of his passes with 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions, Smith and the Jets are 2-5, and concern continues to grow regarding an inability to get star receiver Garrett Wilson the ball. @nypost @Yankees @GothamistNYC Source: AM New York

I helped a billionaire couple tell their kids they’d already received their inheritance. They didn’t take it well Based on a survey of 800 Baby Boomers and 800 Gen X or Millennial children, the researchers found that 61% of adult children said inheritance had already caused problems in their families, from hurt feelings and arguments over fairness to estrangement and legal disputes. Only 29% of older parents said the same. Among the adult children, 49% believed inheritance conversations have the potential to trigger family conflict—which is one reason so many people avoid having them. My book, Unspeakable , came out the same day as the survey, and that data provided an illustration of the book’s core idea in the book: Many families are avoiding conversations because they’re afraid of discomfort, even if this avoidance can cause harm. Estate planning is just one of the topics I cover in Unspeakable , but as I’ve traveled to give talks and answer questions about the book, it’s one that’s coming up most frequently. @SenKirstenGillibrand @SenChuckSchumer @RepMalliotakis Source: Fortune
