There were very few world leaders with the courage and principle to advocate for Julian Assange while the West relentlessly persecuted him for a decade for exposing their multiple grave crimes.
It won't matter to the average Brazilian voter in tomorrow's election (understandably so: most struggle to overcome basic deprivations), but Julian -- on the eve of Lula's last election tomorrow -- commendably recalls that Lula (for no real political gain) always crusaded for his freedom (Lula did the same for Snowden):

Trabalhador merece respeito, dignidade e direitos!
Aos 17 anos, perdi um dedo trabalhando à noite, quando ainda era menor de idade e precisava trabalhar para não passar fome.
A minha história é a realidade de milhões de brasileiros que enfrentam jornadas exaustivas, acidentes de trabalho e condições precárias, colocando a própria saúde e a própria vida em risco para garantir o sustento de suas famílias.
Transformar uma marca dessa trajetória em motivo de ofensa é desrespeitar não apenas a minha história, mas a luta, a dignidade e a resistência de milhões de trabalhadores e trabalhadoras deste país.
Minha cicatriz não é motivo de vergonha. É a marca de uma realidade que o Brasil precisa enfrentar. Trabalhador não pode ser alvo de deboche por carregar no próprio corpo as consequências de uma vida inteira de luta.

Al-Youssef hat u.a. auch über die Probleme syrischer Christen in Österreich berichtet. Journalismus halt. Aber wenn es nach manchen hier geht, darf man mit einem arabischen Namen über manche Themen nicht berichten. Und offenbar ist es zu viel verlangt zu checken, ob der Vorname männlich oder weiblich ist. Entlarvend.
