Antiseptic wound irrigation to prevent surgical site infection after laparotomy: meta-analysis ➡️doi.org/10.1093/bjsopen/zraf… Surgical site infection (SSI) after laparotomy is a major postoperative complication. This study evaluates antiseptic wound irrigation's impact on SSI prevention in abdominal surgery. Wound irrigation (antiseptic or saline) likely reduces surgical site infection rates after laparotomy. Evidence comparing antiseptic versus saline is uncertain but suggests a potential benefit after excluding the high risk of bias studies. 👏👏👏Tara C Mueller , Niel Mehraein , Victoria Kehl , Rebekka Dimpel , Helmut Friess , Daniel Reim #SoMe4Surgery #MedTwitter #SurgEd #Surgery @BJSAcademy @BJSurgery @young_bjs @juliomayol @JJEarnshaw @OUPMedicine #SSI #surgicalsiteinfection

Here is a thread I wrote about collective cell migration! A big thanks to @EpiMechFC and @JuliaEckert10 for giving me this opportunity!
How do cells orchestrate themselves to achieve a directional movement as a group? Hi, I’m @SayukiHirano in @kazuhiroaokilab. In this thread, I’ll highlight key mechanisms of how cells communicate with each other to perform directional collective migration.

Super interesting work and Editorial 🔷
👀Read also the @BJSurgery editorial! High-dose glucocorticoids: improving outcomes of emergency laparotomy by reducing inflammation ➡️doi.org/10.1093/bjs/znae153 Why did the results of this trial differ from those of previously published similar works? ❗️It was performed in the emergency setting and the participants, who had either bowel obstruction or peritonitis, had a significant amount of background inflammation, which was compounded by the stress of surgery Perhaps, in the presence of background inflammation, the effects of dexamethasone were more pronounced The trial by Cihoric et al. represents a major advance in perioperative care that has the potential to improve outcomes Great work by Dileep N Lobo

Very excited to share our latest research as pre-proof article in @MucosalImmunol ! We show that depleting B cells or blocking co-stimulatory CD86 on B cells diminished intestinal inflammation in a mouse model of chronic #IBD at onset of disease. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
