Red flags on Defence commentators 🚩🚨 1. Blaming a particular political party for Defence woes. 2. Casting doubt on CDS ability because he isn't a pilot/G3 warrior. 3. Number of Admirals/Generals per hull/workforce trope 4. UK > USMC/IDF comparison

Goed zo! 🇳🇱
De landmacht breidt uit met nieuwe pantservoertuigen. We kopen extra CV90-gevechtsvoertuigen, brugleggende tanks, ondersteunende pantserrupsvoertuigen en zware bergingsvoertuigen. Lees meer via: defensie.nl/nieuws/20261026-…

Probably good news for FFGs WISENT 2. A very definitive move from 🇳🇱 to save the money from a planned MLU to procure a new capability. Lessons for 🇬🇧 perhaps with T2.
🇳🇱 The Netherlands has decided that it will retire its fleet of Kodiak Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEV), as they have been deemed to no longer be suited for the combat engineering task and are plagued with technical problems limiting availability. Initially a midlife update for the vehicles was proposed, but this was deemed to not be worth the effort, and a new CEV is to be procured instead, which is equipped specifically for the obstacle breaching role. hartpunkt.de/niederlande-wol…

Now to avoid feast and famine and ensure there's a drumbeat of orders to ensure the skilled workforce and supply chain don't disappear (again).

Guarantee that we will see British personnel evacuated in the same way in my lifetime. It will probably be in extremis (stay in situ and certainly die, or move them and have a chance of survival) in order to break the culture, but it'll happen.
BREAKING: Ukraine has carried out the world’s first medical evacuation of a human via a drone from the battlefield the 30th mechanised brigade of Ukraine managed to save their injured comrade from a minefield. Just absolutely insane.

Well this is odd, and 'solutioneering' from the Shadow Cabinet is largely pointless as nothing will be costed.
In today’s Sunday Times, we’ve shared more detail of the blueprint for Britannia Shield with @benrileysmith - including our plan for ‘Radar Drones’. We’d use MQ-9B ‘Protector’ drones, already in service with the RAF & originally used in the Middle East, for homeland defence. At times of heightened threat, we believe they could augment Early Airborne Warning from the crewed E-7 Wedgetail to give 24/7 long range ‘eyes in the sky’.

French are good at phys I have to say. The French SU beats the British BG in Estonia routinely. They don't have PTIs, Sect Comds run PT and are judged on the fitness of their Section. Culturally they ringfence time for it better than we do.

Head of the British Army, Gen Sir Roly Walker, met Cpl Pol after the event and personally congratulated him. Pol told me he was thrilled to win, and to beat British Army participants - but stressed it was "entente" - all a friendly affair. @ForcesNews

Seen on other social media RAF Lossiemouth have exercised dispersal, 4x Typhoons and 1x P8 to Kinloss using it as a TLZ. Temporary dispersal perhaps, but a start! @hthjones @edwardstrngr65

Now decide what you're going to stop to run other air stations (more infra, more staff, more AEs) for dispersal, which infra budget you'll use for increased protection (do you take from infra upgrades to Faslane/D'Port/Pompey?) and which staff from other progs to run it.
Please can we start talking about not parking our fleets in neat rows on open hardstands? Hardened aircraft shelters may be less glamorous than IAMD, but they still make an adversary's job harder. Cc Brize, Lossie, Marham, Coningsby.

Fantastic short video! I'd have liked it in the voice of a Brian Cox, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan or Christopher Lee but good none the less. Wouldn't have been able to do a similar video when it was HMS Agincourt.
A formidable attack submarine, HMS Agamemnon's name carries a historical lineage. Many stories have been written about the previous Agamemnons, and this is where the next chapter begins. Find out more 👇.

Sighs in retreat from influencing events that affect our economy. Like a boxer always on the ropes, we are subject to events.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.   The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.   But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.   That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.   It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Fantastic day with the Senior Service yesterday! Lots of young matelots, embarking (literally) on their military careers. Good luck to them, very jealous. N.B Also painfully aware of the very significant challenges for RN and Defence...

Most impressed by the scale of engineering and logistics, even alongside. From a pers perspective even the lean crewing designed in from the outset seems ambitious, the training pipeline behind it must be complex @fightingsailor @NavyLookout @ModernNavy

Infra is all too easy to kick in to the long grass, as @NavyLookout says here, all the Defence issues and risks are aligning in this case "Curses are like young chickens, they always come home to roost". No one political can be to blame, they are all decades in the making
.@FT @LOS_Fisher quotes an eye-watering £6Bn cost for the floating dry docks at Faslane. Ironically, one of the Defence Investment Plan's best aspects is the effort to fix infrastructure. The difficulty is timing, being forced to rebuild the foundations and enablers at precisely the moment the MoD needs to be buying the munitions, drones and hulls needed for looming kinetic warfare on the frontline. Project Royal Oak commits £26 billion over the next decade to naval bases at Devonport, Portsmouth and Faslane, Project Castra allocates £24 billion to the Army estate, Project Trenchard puts £10 billion into RAF airfields, and a further £9 billion goes on defence housing, with nine in ten military homes to be upgraded or modernised. Combined, that is close to £70 billion spent on foundations rather than firepower. This core problem with defence cannot be blamed on the current government and is a crisis three decades in the making.

Nice nod to the motto of 6th Airborne Division "Go to it!" And the title of a fantastic book detailing wartime exploits of 3rd Para Sqn RE by Maj Shave MC RE @thinkdefence @almurray @PegasusBridgeBk
Great work by @jgsdf_1stAbnB🇯🇵 in response to #TyphoonNo25. The high readiness and 'go to it' mindset of #airborne forces makes us ready to respond to humanitarian and natural disasters as much as for warfighting.

Great stuff. I don't think I'm being overly pessimistic when I say that this type of large infrastructure project should have been funded and approved a decade ago so it was delivering now... but better late than never... Best time to plant an orchard...
UK chancellor John Healey will announce at the Labour conference that Britain is about to enter ‘a new age of industrialisation’ as he confirms a £6bn plan to build three floating docks at the Royal Navy’s submarine base on the Clyde in Scotland. ft.trib.al/NSIjebP

NATO’s Atlantic command has always been important. But the emergence of JFC Norfolk as a multi-domain command with responsibility for the UK homeland, Scandinavia and much of the Arctic, puts it at the heart of UK strategic interests in NATO. General Nick is a great addition.
General Nick Perry DSO MBE 🇬🇧 assumes Command of Joint Force Command Norfolk. Addressing the Command, Gen. Perry set out a clear focus for JFC Norfolk and NATO’s mission across the North Atlantic: “The North Atlantic is once again a theatre of strategic competition. The assumptions many of us enjoyed for decades can no longer be taken for granted. That is why: 🔹Deterrence matters. 🔹Readiness matters. 🔹Warfighting matters. And that is why this Command exists. Our task is simple to describe, but demanding to deliver: to ensure NATO can deter aggression, defend the Alliance and, if deterrence fails, prevail in conflict alongside our Allies and partners.” 🔗jfcnorfolk.nato.int/activity… @NATO | @SecGenNATO | @SHAPE_NATO | @NATOJFCBS | @JFC_Naples | @NATO_MARCOM | @NATO_AIRCOM | @LANDCMD | @DefenceHQ | @DefenceOps | @UKNATO | @UKCDS_MOD | @GenGJenkinsRM | @CSOC_MOD | @UKinUSA

Good comms. Glad some accounts in Defence are following the fantastic example of the emergency services. Early engagement to inform and calm before the crazies get hold of the narrarive.
An update on today's incident involving an RAF Hawk T2 aircraft. Thank you for the well wishes to our people.
