Here’s how the leaders in the Big 12 look after BYU and Texas Tech were upset, with @UHCougarFB playing Utah tonight.
Cincinnati with a massive upset of #8 Texas Tech. The previously unbeaten Red Raiders get blowed up 37-24. Positive News for @UHCougarFB. As @brianmctaggart says “Tech got wrecked.”
Fred VanVleet, on NBA on Prime, on Amen Thompson blocking Victor Wembanyama’s shot in the final seconds: “Not many people on the planet making that play on Wemby.”
Amen Thompson’s crazy block of the Victor Wembanyama shot at point blank range with the Rockets up two in the final seconds. The Spurs superstar appeared stunned that he got rejected with the game on the line.
Amen Thompson with the amazing block on Victor Wembanyama with the Rockets up two in the final seconds. Houston beat the Spurs 114-110 to complete an early Texas two-step. Rockets beat Dallas Wednesday. Houston opens the season 2-0. The Spurs are 0-2.

Rockets open the season with a 128-110 win over Dallas. At one point Houston was up 37. The Rockets had lost eight consecutive season openers. That streak is history.

The H-Town Basketball Tipoff, which @PaperCityMag first broke the news of, is already up to tables sold for nearly 550 people for its inaugural event next Wednesday afternoon. Houston coach Kelvin Sampson, Fran Fraschilla and every Houston area college coach (both men's and women's) are slated to be there. Along with the Top 15 boys and girls high school basketball players in the Houston area.
PaperCity has learned that a new Coach of the Year Award and a new Girls High School Player of the Year Award will be revealed at this first of its kind H-Town basketball extravaganza too.
"I grew up in Big 5 country where you have Temple, St. Joe's, Villanova, Penn and Drexel all playing each other," H-Town Basketball Tipoff orchestrator Mike Pede tells PaperCity. "Playing together. . . Basketball just doesn't get enough love. No one really thinks about basketball until January 1st.
"So I'm trying to get them to think about basketball in October."
