A truly shocking state of affairs!
Shocking neglect and abuse of retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, a natural born leader of men who spent 40 years in service to his country, and his son's long fight for justice. Please share Ben's post widely: "My father, Retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, is a man who spent nearly 40 years in dedicated service to this country, serving from 1970 until 2009. He is a natural leader, a decorated soldier, to those who served with him. However, he has been completely abandoned and betrayed by the very system he gave everything to.
I am fighting for justice for my father. This struggle is a mirror of my own life; my own journey marked by the negligence of MPs, charities, and veteran services which led me to the absolute rock bottom of homelessness as a veteran myself. I know exactly what it is like to be discarded by the people who promised to provide support.
After years of fighting, we finally have a pathway toward the right care, but the damage is already done. The sheer scale of the failings along the way has crippled a man who likely only suffered from PTSD. What should have been a manageable recovery became a total collapse because of institutional incompetence.
This isn't a failure of one person or one office it is a systemic rot. For too long, the UK government, regardless of which side of the fence they sit on, has played a political game with the lives of our veterans. Whether it is Labour or the Conservatives, the result is the same: service men are treated as assets when they are useful and as liabilities the moment they are broken. We are told our sacrifices are "remembered," but the reality is that once the uniform comes off, the care vanishes.
We sought help for my dad, worried about PTSD and dementia resulting from his service. Through the SAS Association and Veterans’ Aid, he was referred to various healthcare facilities. Instead of professional care, he found negligence from these referrals.
In the last few years alone, he has been through multiple institutions that have failed him. We've dealt with incorrect diagnoses, doctors who tried to push him out of their care because he was "too difficult," and the removal of life-saving medication that led to him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. He was sedated and left to decline without specialist care. His PTSD was completely ignored, and his medical history was dismissed. In one instance, he was admitted to the hospital due to low sodium caused by the excessive use of anti-psychotic medication.
The most infuriating part is the silence from the top. MPs have explicitly ignored this situation and failed to act for a Lt Col in 22 SAS. The "Military Covenant" is nothing more than a piece of paper used for photo opportunities while men like my father are left to rot.
The system has failed. The NHS has failed. Veteran charities have failed. From the MOD passing the buck to the medical incompetence of the facilities, my father has been abandoned like thousands of others.
I am posting this because we need accountability. It is not enough to simply "help" now; there must be justice for the way he was treated. My father spent four decades looking after his men and serving at the highest level for the United Kingdom; it is a national disgrace that the government failed to look after him and many like him.
Do not listen to the rhetoric the government continues to push. As this is an example of what happens after 40 years of dedicated service.
Please share this. We need the people in power to answer for this. We need leaders who actually lead, not politicians who just talk."

To agree with Cambell shows the utter degradation of Russian claims😉
“Disgusting… The worst form of bootlicking.”
It’s safe to say that Alastair Campbell doesn’t agree with Steve Witkoff that Putin is a ‘humanitarian’.
@IainDale @campbellclaret
If you do not think this is a despicable way to treat these men you’re as bad as the Labour government.
Imagine jumping from a helicopter behind enemy lines at night to capture an ISIS cell leader, not knowing if you'll come home. Then imagine coming home to a double murder investigation.
In July 2022, five SAS soldiers came under fire in a pitch-black field in Syria. The two people in front of them refused calls to surrender, and the soldiers believed their lives were in danger. They fired. An internal review cleared them on self-defence grounds.
Days after a BBC Panorama on the SAS, the Director of Special Forces overturned that review and referred them to the military police. The soldiers were arrested at secret bases in Syria and Iraq, and their homes were raided. Detectives asked for a sleeping baby to be moved so they could search under its cot.
Forty-eight hours after their police interviews, the same men were sent back to jump out of helicopters into enemy territory, with life sentences hanging over them.
Their legal support was one sheet of A4 listing legal aid solicitors, plus no more than £500. After nearly three years of limbo they were told there would be no charges, but the case could be reopened at any time. They have never been formally cleared.
All five have now left the Army. They've been through broken relationships, drinking, and in one case an attempted suicide. The SAS is losing more experienced soldiers than ever, and the Defence Secretary has refused to meet them.
This is outrageous. They aren't asking to be above the law. They're asking for a fair process. Our soldiers deserve protection from lawfare, not to be treated like criminals by the state they serve.

Grace O’Malley-Kumar was 19. She wanted to be a doctor. She played hockey. That night she was walking home with Barnaby Webber after the end of exams, the two of them laughing on the way back to their rooms in Nottingham.
When Barnaby was attacked, she did not run. She was quick. She could have got away. She stayed and tried to pull the man off her friend. Her dad said she put friendship over fear. Her brother said she would never leave a friend. Both of them died on Ilkeston Road, 13 June 2023. She was later awarded the George Medal for that.
Ian Coates was 65. Caretaker at Huntingdon Academy, father of three, four months off retirement, on his way in to work. Killed the same morning.
The man who did it was Valdo Calocane. Born in Guinea-Bissau, raised in Portugal, brought to Britain in 2007 when he was 16.
An immigrant. By 2020 he had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He was sectioned four times. A doctor warned he could end up killing someone.
He came off his medication, stopped engaging, and was discharged back into the city in September 2022, unmedicated, with a warrant already out for him.
Deranged, unstable, and known to be both. Nine months later he killed Grace, Barnaby and Ian.
The charge was dropped from murder to manslaughter. He is in a hospital, not a prison how is that justice especially when the families of the victims are facing a life sentence.
Three ordinary people. One of them a girl who would not leave her friend. Still missed.
Never forget Grace. Never forget Barnaby. Never forget Ian.

🚨 JOHN HEALEY PLOTS 1.5 BILLION POUND INTERNET SHOPPING TAX TO PUNISH ORDINARY CONSUMERS!
I have just seen the latest socialist blueprint from the Institute for Public Policy Research handing John Healey another excuse to raid your wallet.
Labour is quietly plotting a massive 1.5 billion pound tax on online retailers right before the October Budget.
Andy Burnham and the Treasury want to brand this an Amazon tax so they can pose as champions of the local high street.
The cold reality is that retail bosses have already confirmed this entire cost will be passed directly onto British citizens through higher prices at the digital checkout.
While the government squanders your money on a bloated 407 billion pound welfare bill and migrant hotels, they expect working class families to pay a stealth penalty just for ordering a parcel to their own front door.
Labour has completely run out of other people's money and now they are coming after your everyday online deliveries to plug their self inflicted financial black hole.
Retweet this immediately to expose John Healey and his latest stealth tax before the upcoming Budget.
So the police can impose a section 34 on Gosport for illegal invaders but not on for our Jewish citizens honouring October the 7th massacre….Let that sink in!
Our despicable Jihadist Government is facilitating antisemitism!

This tiny YELLOW dot is Israel, the only Jewish state in the world.
They want you to believe that the tiny YELLOW dot is the oppressor and colonizer, and that the RED Muslim countries surrounding it are the oppressed.
Just how delusional can they be? These people are sick

Ed Millibrain strikes again…
Ed Miliband just pledged £88 million of our money to Gaza at the UN. Here is what he didn't mention.
UNRWA, the agency receiving our money, had nine staff confirmed as participants in the October 7 massacre. The UK paused funding. Then quietly resumed it. Today Miliband sent £88 million more without mentioning October 7 once.
The New York Times documented Hamas skimming $1 billion in UN aid for tunnels and weapons. US federal investigators found Hamas diverts up to 25% of aid directly to its fighters. Qatar, who co-hosted today's UNGA meeting with Miliband, bankrolls Hamas leadership from Doha.
This month Trump's ambassador accused Miliband of "Jew hate" after he filmed himself claiming Israel blocked medicines from Gaza. Israel's Foreign Ministry called it outright lies. He posted the video anyway.
He has the intelligence. He has read the reports. He knows where the money goes.
He chose to send it anyway and call it humanitarian.
Our £88 million. His conscience. Their tunnels.
Ed Miliband is a very dangerous idiot to have any power whatsoever.

🚨 BREAKING: FRANCE DEMANDS ONE BILLION POUNDS FROM SHABANA MAHMOOD AS A PENALTY FOR BEING WEAK
You have to hand it to the French, they have pulled off the greatest diplomatic shakedown in modern European history.
A French parliamentary commission just demanded a 40% hike on their Channel crossings deal, billing British taxpayers nearly one billion pounds.
Their official reason is the ultimate public humiliation of this Labour government!
The French inquiry admitted they are hiking the fee because Britain is an irresistible magnet, with the Home Office granting asylum to seventy one percent of Channel arrivals.
One third of every single illegal migrant entering Europe heads straight for our coast because Labour offers free hotels, legal aid, and zero deportations.
Mahmood already handed Paris six hundred and 62 million pounds for French gendarmes to sip coffee on the beach and wave dinghies into the sea.
Now the French are demanding a billion pounds in coastal protection money while laughing at our complete weakness!
Andy Burnham and Shabana Mahmood have turned Great Britain into an open wallet for foreign politicians who hold our borders in pure contempt!
Retweet this immediately to blow the whistle on this one billion pound French extortion racket before Labour signs the cheque. 🇬🇧🔥
He has some neck🙄

Then you go home, look your wife and daughter in the eyes, and know you have just increased their chances of being raped.
