Spring Garden didn't shortchange anybody who withstood a chilly night to see their playoff win. This one had a bit of everything, including a game of keepaway at the end to run out the clock, which started late, naturally. More below. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Good piece, but the reporter apparently thinks SIDs are the only ones put out by the fall-spring model. It makes it hard on anyone who helps put in a game: grounds crew, security, ticket office, clock, scoreboard, concessions, etc. With more games streamed, that’s more personnel.
BREAKING: The two-semester model for men’s college soccer is expected to be rescinded, sources tell GOAL.
The vote needs two-thirds majority to rescind initial decision and sources say they expect that to happen.
New model originally ratified on Oct. 7.

US Soccer should just offer grant funding to every university that voted against the 2-semester model.
Cover their spring support staff and facility costs, plus an additional stipend for the pain and suffering of having to read the US Soccer social media posts.

Ricky Austin is now 1-0 as @JaxStateWBB’s head coach.

Tonight, the Spring Garden girls basketball team came to Jacksonville State to see their former leader, Ricky Austin in his debut as a collegiate head coach. Please, everyone, tell new SG head coach @draevan20 he looks good in this picture.
Good list.
These are my top 5 reasons why college football attendance is dwindling:
1. The death of regional games and rivalries. Too many schools are now in conferences that make no geographic sense. Having gone to Arizona State, seeing annual games with the LA, Bay Area, Oregon & Washington schools replaced w/ conference games against schools from Kansas, Texas, Florida, Ohio and West Virginia doesn't resonate. This is being felt everywhere.
2. Conference imbalance. We now have a world where the Big Ten and SEC are inherently favored for earning CFP bids and higher rankings before each season begins. The ACC and Big 12 are Tier 2 leagues, and the G6 schools are essentially in a separate class. This has produced an uneven, biased landscape that is entirely unfair.
3. Noise pollution. I go to college football games to tailgate, watch football and listen to marching bands - not for blaring music and sound effects, hyperventilating PA announcers, and flashing light shows. The environment has been degraded.
4. Expanded College Football Playoff. We've entered an era where if your school isn't contending for a CFP bid, it's playing out the string.
5. The transfer portal. Annual free agency has many schools turning over rosters by more than 50-75%. The connections between players and fans has greatly eroded. Most fans can't name 10 guys on their teams any more. That's not ideal.
The sport needs more stability, the return of regional conferences, better game day atmospheres, and a more level playing field.

All valid, but the University of Utah literally didn’t do any of that to you and yet you branded the whole school as inciting an assassination attempt. Where’s that ownership?
Anyone hammering Jax State for not scoring more than seven points in the first half should realize it is a HUGE win for the Gamecocks to not allow a touchdown in the final two minutes of the half. Only the second time this year! Seriously.
