Nobody who uses the phrase “Korean Korean” colloquially thinks of it as “ethnicity-nationality”. It’s an example of linguistic reduplication, not a compound identity — “Korean” in the most specific sense of the word, as opposed to the broader diaspora.

Two things are happening: we’ve reached a critical point where there are enough Koreans living in Korea who speak fluent English and have full access to American contents now. And the Korean status has advanced so much that Koreans no longer automatically accept American views.
I feel this is valid. People of diasporas do not by virtue of our birth have native-level insight into cultures we or our families left decades or generations ago—how could we?—but the western world will often turn to us as if we do, at the expense of voices who know better.
The devastation—and, at some level, the fear—reminds me of the reaction I saw speaking to Go players at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul after AlphaGo’s first victory over Lee Sedol. That really was a harbinger of what was coming nytimes.com/2026/10/08/scien…

Congratulations @ollywainwright on this laugh out loud review of the Obama center.

But I think this center isn't walls of granite. Having visited after ASCO, the pattern and texture of the material looks much more like gneiss

The reactions of the #Artemis II astronauts to their photos of the Earth and the moon in the same frame are wholesome. Cannot wait to see these in full resolution, but the sneak peeks look amazing!
Every winter I think about how if Apple were based in the midwest, AirPods would never have lost tap to play/pause. Was brilliant when wearing a winter hat. Force sensor squeeze is much harder.
Same applies to hand warmers designed in Shenzhen. No one tests those wearing gloves
