A socialist making $60,000 a year tells Caleb Hammer she can’t afford a house and wants the government to buy her one. Then he asks how she eats, and it gets ugly for her real fast. SOCIALIST: “I’m allergic to kitchens.” CALEB HAMMER: “How do you eat?” SOCIALIST: “I get fed.” HAMMER: “Make that make sense. I need a little more information. So you eat out?” SOCIALIST: “Yes.” HAMMER: “For every meal. And you’re the one complaining about not being able to get a house.” SOCIALIST: “I can tell you how much like I pay for a meal.” HAMMER: “How much?” SOCIALIST: “Like 20 bucks.” HAMMER: “What the f*ck? That would be like 3 bucks on my meal plan.” SOCIALIST: “Am I not allowed to spend $20 a day?” HAMMER: “Listen, you can’t complain that you can’t save for anything if you’re choosing not to. It’s fine if you don’t want to. “If you would rather go out to eat, that’s fine. But then don’t complain that you didn’t get to save for retirement, that you didn’t get to save for a house. You made that choice, and that’s okay. But own it.” SOCIALIST: “But if the government provided those things…” HAMMER: “Why should they?” SOCIALIST: “Well, the government—” HAMMER: “You have no discipline. Why should they?” SOCIALIST: “Because there’s an intrinsic value to—” HAMMER: “Why should it be my responsibility to take care of you since you decided not to take care of yourself when you make good money?” She tries to change the subject to other people struggling. Hammer isn’t having it. HAMMER: “We’re talking about YOU, not other people right now. We’re on the YOU part of this. Why should I have to take care of YOU when YOU make $60,000 a year and YOU choose to blow it all?” SOCIALIST: “Because the, it’s, there’s an intrinsic value to building up your community.” HAMMER: “You’re not in my community.” Then Hammer asks her what percentage of federal income taxes the top 1% pays, and her answer says it all. Funny how the people demanding your money are always the worst at handling their own.

Mike Tomlin shares the notecard that always sits on his desk and why it's the #1 tool all leaders need. "One of the number one tools that we have is listening." "As leaders, we gotta continually listen. We gotta continually be open to new and different ideas that might be different than ours - that might move us and the group that we lead forward." Then he revealed something powerful: "I have a notecard that's on the corner of my desk that says, 'Listening is a skill.'" "I leave it on the corner of my desk because I want to remind myself that things that are skill-related - you better continually acknowledge." "You can work at it and get better. You can also get worse." Skills don't stay sharp on their own. They require attention. "It's like swinging a golf club. It's a skill-related thing." "I try to treat listening with the same level of respect. I want to continually work at it and hone my talents in that area." "Part of good leadership is being open to ideas and understanding that great ideas and innovative thought oftentimes comes from those that you lead." "That's something I'm always working at. I challenge other leaders to do the same." Listening isn't passive. It's a skill you sharpen or lose. The best leaders never stop working at it. (🎥 L3 Leadership Podcast)

For all of the people bitching about @MLB needs to reseed after the Wild Card, let's just do this @Ken_Rosenthal How about we do away with divisions & balance the schedule out? Top 6 (or more) make the playoffs.

PepsiCo, the parent of Frito lay, has hired a consultant to study why people are snacking less. Has anybody thought $6 for a bag of chips might be the reason?

The amount of travel coaches talking to hitters while they’re in the box is unbelievable. They have enough to think about without you coaching them between every pitch. Sometimes you just need to let them hit.

Some of the best baseball players I ever coached spent their falls in shoulder pads or on a pitch. They arrived in the spring as competitors, not just players. The scoreboard pressure, the different locker room, the coach with a different voice. You cannot buy that at a showcase.

Lorenzo Cain scoring from 1st on a Hoz single in the bottom of 8th for the game winning run in game 6 of the 2015 ALCS. Doesn’t get mentioned enough.
What's the most clutch playoff moment in recent memory? Boston's playoff odds on Kalshi have been surging, but they still trail 6 AL teams, including the White Sox.

In one of the coolest moments in rock history, Eddie Van Halen stood inside the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and broke down exactly how he invented his legendary finger-tapping technique. He explained how he stumbled on the idea as a kid — inspired by piano and classical techniques — and later saw Jimmy Page playing with one hand and turned it into the explosive sound that changed guitar forever. Then he plugged in and unleashed “Eruption” live, right there in the museum. Watching Eddie demonstrate the birth of modern tapping in such a historic setting? Pure magic. That two-handed technique went from his bedroom to stadiums worldwide and influenced an entire generation of players. Eddie didn’t just play guitar — he rewrote the rules. One of the greatest innovators rock has ever seen. Rest in power, EVH.
