25 yrs ago, a gunman opened fire in a #Roanoke queer bar. The 1st mass shooting to target LGBTQ+ people, it 4ever changed my hometown. 1000s attended vigils. Queer-affirming churches surged. We now have a queer mayor & vice mayor plus queer history tours. img.washingtonpost.com/histo…

Chai alert! One of my shop's newest makers, Asheville’s Full Moon Tea Company, shared a chai tea recipe with our magazine. It might be the thing that gets me through late winter's chilly nights. #Asheville #chai #Appalachia woodshed.life/blogs/food-1/r…

When I came out of the closet, queers were still being purged from federal jobs, and we weren’t allowed near the U.S. military — none of us, hard stop. I say this because I hope all of my D.C. friends can take the long view. Be strong. I promise, this dark time will pass. I know that it is scary. I know it is hard. But have faith. We will become a stronger nation because of it.
