Markets can move fast!
Futures markets have fallen in dramatic fashion in the past 6-8 weeks, despite no resolution in the Black Sea.
Australian prices are falling as well, but not as quickly as futures markets (specifically US futures).
That’s a wrap on our 2026 Pre-Harvest Seminars, our biggest ever!🌾
5 weeks, 35 seminars over 1000's of kilometres across NSW, VIC and SA.
Thanks to all our members who came along to talk markets, harvest strategy & catch up. Wishing everyone a safe & successful harvest 🚜📈
Wet week across northern NSW and Queensland - with more on the maps. Images below are week ending 9am this morning and shows substantial rainfall has fallen in the past 7 days.
#barley prices are telling the production story in Aus. NNSW & QLD are struggling, so prices are >$400 delivered or ~$400 NTP. CW/SNSW prices are a discount but still elevated.
Very strong crops mean VIC/SA are tracking export markets, trading at significantly lower prices🌾
September was not a good month, with mostly hot/dry weather. For some (more in the south), the crops managed better through this period, whereas others (esp in the north) have seen crops deteriorate.
The last few days has seen top up rains across SA/VIC & parts of SNSW🌧️
Black Sea issues have rallied global wheat futures recently, but Australian & most global cash prices haven't followed to the same extent.
Since July: CBOT/KCBT +A$40/t, MATIF +A$34/t, ASX just +A$14/t. Australia has picked up more demand from the conflict than the US has.
Our CEO @CrundallNick spoke with @Grain_Central to discuss the launch of the Market Check Academy, described as a first-of-its-kind grain marketing education platform.

August rainfall was solid across large parts of the Australian cropping belt - which has helped push crop estimates higher as we approach harvest.
BOM's forecast for August (second image) which was released on the 30th of July. They have a similiar forecast for September🤷♂️

Tess and Tyler are heading to Eyre Penisula Field Days tomorrow!
If you're heading that way, pop by and say hello to the team in the Crossville Pavilllion, number 403R from August 11th–13th🌾
Rainfall for the past week 🌧️
Northern NSW and QLD continue to struggle for anything meaningful, while southern crops go from strength to strength.
July rainfall 🌧️was tough for WA & northern NSW, while it was kinder in southern NSW/VIC.
Worth nothing a large chunk of July rainfall fell in the first few days of the month, meaning the last few weeks have been dry.
Forecast shows good rains in SA/VIC/WA to start August🤞
