103-year-old Captain Eugeniusz Niedzielski, one of the oldest Polish veterans living in the United Kingdom, laid a wreath for his fallen brothers in arms - the 22,000 Polish officers brutally murdered in Katyń by the Soviet NKVD. We presented the ACACIA-HCM trial. A milestone for us and our patients, having a therapy that influences many important clinical domains that are relevant to patients and physicians alike. When you consider that very few services see HFpEF, this could be a huge increase in the numbers that need support. Medications are available to improve outcomes and quality of life - but if there isn't the infrastructure to put this research into clinical practice...

🫀TARTAN-HF: Screening 706 adults w/ diabetes with NT-proBNP → echo found undiagnosed HF in 1 in 4 (mostly HFpEF)! NNS just 5 📈✅ BUT finding it isn't enough ⚠️ SGLT2i use rose only 24%→39%, ns-MRA 1%→2% 💊 Screening must be coupled with GDMT to help patients 🔑❤️‍🩹
