Honestly, I couldn't care less about Brazilian politics.
But I find it interesting to note how my former college professors equate democracy with a victory for the left. In other words, if the left loses, it's not democracy.

🚨 Brazil declares Lula the President: After an unprecedented and first time in history Lula extended the election for an additional 2 hours and now has won the Brazilian election.
Prior to adding the additional 2 hours Flavio Bolsonaro was leading for the majority of the day and has now called to "annul" the election and has not accepted the election results.
Many of Lula's supporters are self declared communists. In this video you will see why they voted for Lula and the causes they support. I highly encourage to watch and share this video as you see the ideology that is moving through Lula's political party in South Americas largest country.

Brazil Election Chaos Cheat Sheet:
• Brazil provides free busing to and from voting centers
• In order to be deemed neutral, those buses are not allowed to have any political signs, etc
• In several states that skew toward Lula, the buses had "PT" stars affixed to them (PT is Lula's party). The official in charge of busing said those buses could not run unless the signs were taken down, delaying the busing. Lots of finger-pointing ensued
• There is an election tribunal in Brazil that oversees election legal issues, but Lula went around it and appealed directly to the Supreme Court
• The SC assigns a single justice to review; Lula asked for an extension specifically IN THOSE STATES (which heavily skew toward Lula)
• The Justice who made the decision was previously Lula's PERSONAL LAWYER and is a Lula appointee
• Once Bolsonaro knew Lula was asking for extensions and suspected it would be granted (given which justice was reviewing), he also requested extensions so they would be nationwide, and not just in Lula territory
• A nationwide extension was granted just AFTER the polling stations were supposed to close (5:00pm). However, once a voting machine is locked for the day, it cannot be unlocked. In practice, this meant most polling stations were not able to reopen and offer extended voting because they'd closed at 5pm
• By an AMAZING coincidence, nearly all of the voting machines that hadn't yet locked were in the four states where Lula polls well over 70% popularity (northeast)
• There are supposed to be two observers (one from each side) at all polling stations. At many of the extended stations, the word is there were not two observers
• In the first round voting (three weeks ago), Bolsonaro won 47% and Lula 45% of 119mm votes, with ~8% to third-party candidates
• Of the 8%, the candidates skewed strongly to the right (Bolsonaro); everyone assumed Bolsonaro would take the large majority of that 8% and win easily in round two (yesterday)
• As it turned out, Lula "outperformed" in basically every state
• Also, apparently 5 million more people voted in round two (yesterday) than in round one
• Lula picked up 10.5mm votes, whereas Bolsonaro picked up 3.7mm, leading to tremendous suspicion, as 3.7mm isn't even the majority of the 8% right-leaning opportunity from round one, and implies Bolsonaro received 0% of the incremental 5 million votes and less than half of the jump ball votes
• Chaos ensues. The $EWZ Brazil index ETF has been down as much as 28% this morning (mix of currency and index declines)

Actually predicted that Lula would win the final election in Brazil after Bolsonaro did so well in the first round. Leftists never voluntarily give up power, even if it means cheating.

I feel like if Trump appointed his former personal lawyer to the US Supreme Court and that same judge then extended voting by two hours on election day, leftists would not be describing it as "saving democracy."

🚨 JUST IN: Right-wing Brazilian businessman and Flávio Bolsonaro ally Pablo Marçal ERUPTS outside Bolsonaro's election-night headquarters after Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin — Lula's former personal lawyer — extended voting hours AFTER polls had already closed
"The decision arrives at 5:04 p.m. without notification to the Electoral Court or any state court — the voting machines were already closed, and there is NO WAY to open a machine back up again!"
"Who left their voting machines open past the deadline? The machines had to be closed and sealed at 5:00 p.m. sharp! I want to know which voting machines are still open — we have to put a MAGNIFYING GLASS on those machines!"
"Only 17 cities were requested on one side [for storms] and Lula's party requested two — 17 plus 2 is 19. Now to leave all 5,569 cities in Brazil waiting is ABSURD!"
"Whenever they are losing, they always act like this!"
He nailed the biggest question of the night: why were ANY precincts still unsealed past 5PM when everyone who followed the law was already locked out?
THIS IS A STRAIGHT UP COUP.
RIGGING THE ELECTION.
If Bolsonaro wins tonight it will be a comeback of the ages!

For anyone confused about what happened in Brazil…
Imagine if the Kamala Harris campaign, after losing the first round of voting by over two MILLION votes and watching her trail all month, spent Election Day not counting voters but counting buses, and when the courts refused to arrest a city official over a bus spreadsheet, they didn't take no for an answer, they went around the election court entirely, straight to a Supreme Court justice who just happened to be the Democratic president's former personal lawyer, the same president who put him on the bench, and that justice just happened to rule three minutes before polls closed, so late that many machines were already shut and sealed, and then, instead of fixing it, he quietly rewrote his own order so that only the stations still open could keep voting, and nobody, not the press, not the election officials, not anyone, can tell you how many stayed open, or where they were, or why that list hasn't been released, or whether it just happened to line up with the exact neighborhoods the Democrats had spent all day naming, while Republican voters in flooded, blacked-out towns who had begged for extra time were told the doors were locked and to go home, and then the vote count itself was frozen for two full hours in the dark, and when the lights came back on the Democrat had pulled off the first runoff comeback in the nation's history, and the same people who spent four years saying trust the institutions announced the institutions had worked perfectly, that asking which polls stayed open was an attack on democracy, that the list of open polls was classified for the good of democracy which is roughly where Brazil is tonight.

Imagine the Supreme Court stopping the count after polls close and ordering polls reopen for two hours ONLY in Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Atlanta, and you sort of get the scope of what's currently happening in Brazil.

"So if your entire plan is built around what happens after the Insurrection Act is invoked, you are building a plan around mass violence happening"
Exactly.
I've been going through the Democracy Files leaks @DataRepublican has been releasing, and whether or not any of this ultimately meets the legal bar for seditious conspiracy. The plan these organizers are discussing doesn't hold together unless you assume their "non-violence" language is masking their true intentions from public consumption.
Their red line is the Insurrection Act as a potential triggering action, there may be others, but all of the potential triggering acts that have been hinted at are lawful actions. Nobody invokes the Insurrection Act over people walking down the street with signs. It doesn't happen. The Guard deployments in LA and Portland last year to counteract violent protestors weren't even the Insurrection Act. The only scenario where it actually gets invoked is one where there is sustained violence that local authorities can't or won't control.
So if your entire plan is built around what happens after the Insurrection Act is invoked, you are building a plan around mass violence happening. You can say "non-violence" as many times as you want. The plan doesn't work without the violence. That's a wink and a nod tactic to cya legally.
But understand the logic flow of what comes next. In the transcripts published by The Post Millennial and WECU, the talk is about governors becoming "the leading governing authority," about how to "wall off these illegitimate individuals," and about moving "into an extra-constitutional process." In other words, the federal response has been labeled illegitimate before anything has even happened.
That's where this starts to matter legally. The seditious conspiracy statute covers conspiring to oppose by force the authority of the United States, or to prevent, hinder or delay by force the execution of any law. The Supreme Court said back in 1887 that if federal officers carrying out the law are forcibly opposed by people who conspired for that purpose, that is exactly what the statute was written for.
If violence breaks out, and the federal government steps in to protect communities, and these same organizers then use ongoing violent protests to tell governors and the public that the federal government is no longer legitimate, that bleeds out of activism and into something far more serious.
Advocating an idea isn't a crime necessarily and the courts have been clear about that. But there is a big difference between teaching an abstract idea and lining up the lawyers, the bail money and the governing plan for the day after.
Maria Stephan, who co-leads the Horizons Project, the group that co-wrote the toolkit for these organizers, wrote in 2020 that calling the George Floyd protests violent riots "is simply untrue" and that the looting and vandalism were "a minute portion" of it, "largely committed by opportunists." Erica Chenoweth, whose 3.5% rule keeps coming up in these circles, co-wrote that claims the protests were overtaken by rioting "are false." Paul Zeitz wrote last year that troops had been "deployed against peaceful protestors" in LA. So they are obviously hiding behind legalese to cover their tracks while having a background of defining violent protests as non-violent.
All of this tells you exactly how they'll describe the violence when it comes. “It isn't really violence, it's a tiny percentage, it's opportunists, and the real threat is the federal response.”
They're being evasive and misleading, intentionally.
The question now is what the full archive shows. If anyone on these calls is planning to physically resist federal law enforcement once it shows up, or keeps backing these movements after they've clearly turned violent, that's not politics anymore. And it’s worth repeating this last point. If the organizers of this say “peaceful protest” now, but advocate for advancing their plan to delegitimize the authority of the United States government after violent protests break out, they will be exposed to more obvious legal scrutiny.

Myriam was a 7-year-old French Jewish girl. She witnessed a terrorist break into her school and kill two of her classmates.
She tried to run but tripped while grabbing her schoolbag, causing her ballet slippers to fall out. She stopped to pick them up. He chased her and grabbed her by the hair, shooting her in the head at point-blank range.
The man was Mohamed Merah, and a rap song honoring him and other Muslim terrorists has become the unofficial anthem of the ‘student protests’ in France.
