🗣 @ZackPolanski: “Politicians should wear who sponsors them all over their clothes.”
And here Labour ministers are, proudly wearing Shell logos as they approve the Jackdaw gasfield.
Labour’s priorities are clear: corporate profits over climate action.

ALT Bradford District Green Party Graphic. Red background with darker red swirls. Large white capitals across the top read "POLITICIANS SHOULD WEAR WHO SPONSORS THEM ALL OVER THEIR CLOTHES." Two smiling people in orange hi-vis jackets, each with a Shell logo and holding a green hard hat, stand either side of a large yellow Shell logo. Their labels read "Miatta Fahnbulleh, Energy Secretary" and "John Healey, Chancellor." A tilted Guardian newspaper card reads "Shell profits double to $10.8bn as Iran war pushes up profit margin on oil." Near the bottom, green text reads "JOIN.GREENPARTY.ORG.UK," with small promotional text beneath it.

Yes, I want my taxes to help a stranger afford the insulin they need to stay alive.
No, I don’t want my taxes funding the bombing of children.
Apparently, believing that human lives matter more than destruction is a radical position now.

Set Corporation Tax to 50%, allow no ways to dodge it, and make the payments free from any more tax.
Generate £250bn a year, which will fund EVERYTHING.
And stop foreign billionaires plundering the UK.

We had a power outage last week.
Our backup battery kept the servers running for exactly 47 seconds.
It's supposed to last 45 minutes.
I investigated.
Somebody had plugged a 200-gallon aquarium into the same battery backup as our servers.
Two heaters.
Three pumps.
An automatic feeder.
The entire fish tank was running on our disaster recovery infrastructure.
I asked Facilities who authorized this.
Apparently the aquarium belongs to the CEO.
It was installed in 2019 to promote a calming work environment.
I explained that during an outage, the fish were consuming electricity meant to keep the company operational.
Facilities said the fish couldn't be disconnected because they're living animals.
I said the servers support 600 employees.
They said fish are employees too, in a sense.
I escalated to the CEO.
He said the aquarium was a critical part of company culture.
So I submitted a request for a separate backup battery.
Finance rejected it.
"Why does IT need additional power infrastructure?"
I explained.
They asked whether we could prioritize the servers over the fish.
The CEO said no.
We now have a disaster recovery policy that prioritizes six koi over our entire accounting system.
Yesterday the CEO asked why our recovery plan doesn't meet industry standards.
I told him the industry generally doesn't include fish in its uptime calculations.

I'm fucking tired of Russians trying to pretend to be the victims in this war.
Russia invaded Ukraine, bombed its cities, murdered civilians, and destroyed entire cities!
You can't cry victim here

There's a printer in our office that hasn't worked since 2021.
Last month Facilities asked IT to dispose of it.
Easy.
Except company policy requires a signed Asset Disposal Authorization before any equipment can be removed.
The authorization must be printed, signed by the department head, and attached to the equipment.
I submitted the form.
Finance rejected it.
Reason: The printer still has a book value of $14.62.
They can't write it off until the next depreciation cycle.
Fine.
We moved it to storage.
Facilities rejected that because storage is reserved for operational equipment.
It's not operational.
"Then it needs to be disposed of."
I explained Finance won't let us.
Facilities said that was an IT issue.
So I found a solution.
I submitted a repair estimate.
$480 to fix a printer worth $14.62.
Finance rejected the repair because replacement would be more economical.
I submitted a replacement request.
Finance rejected it because we already have enough printers.
I attached the rejection to the disposal form.
Finance rejected that too.
Last Friday an auditor asked why we had a broken printer sitting in the hallway.
I explained the situation.
He said leaving unused equipment in a hallway creates an asset management compliance risk.
He recommended assigning someone to oversee it.
My manager just informed me I'm now the official custodian of the printer.
It's been broken for five years.
It has no toner.
It cannot print.
But it has an owner, a depreciation schedule, and a quarterly compliance review.
It has more job security than I do.

Autism professionals, please stop using “social skills” as if neurotypical ways of interacting are the universal standard everyone else needs to learn.
If you’re teaching an autistic person how to navigate neurotypical social expectations, call them what they are: neurotypical social skills.
Autistic people have social skills, too. They may communicate, connect, and build relationships differently, but that doesn’t mean they’re socially incompetent.
We’re human beings, not robots waiting to be programmed.
