Zebrafish embryonic axis extension showing the developing skeletal muscles (magenta) and neurons (green), both derivatives of the #NMPs. Imaged with @LeicaMicro DMI6000B and processed with #THUNDER.
The Stony Brook University Biochemistry and Cell Biology Department has two open faculty searches. Details and links to the applications can be found here: stonybrook.edu/biochem/oppor…
Thanks @SBUResearch for the shout out and to @NIGMS for this opportunity!
Congratulations to Dept. of Biochemistry & Cell Biology Associate Prof. @Martin_Lab_SBU for receiving a $2M grant from @NIGMS to conduct research on #neuromesodermal progenitors, stem cells that contribute to spinal cord or skeletal muscle development news.stonybrook.edu/newsroom…

New dropbox has been set up at Stony Brook University @stonybrooku in Stony Brook, NY! Pickups are Thursdays at 4pm, located in the Life Science Building, 4th floor, outside of Room 450A. Thanks to Chi-Kuo Hu for hosting this new box! 🥳🥳🥳
Love the shirt, but love even more the enthusiasm and passion you bring to the lab every day!
Representing the best lab @Martin_Lab_SBU! I am so thankful for my mentor @B_L_Martin and wonderful labmates 💕 Getting a Ph.D. isn't easy but they really keep me going strong! 🥰

📢📢Are you looking for a postdoc position in NY? Do you like #microscopy and want to expand your skills on intravital imaging? Join us!! We have 1 postdoc position to fill.👇👇 @TischCancer @IcahnMountSinai #Recruiting
Our department is a supportive and collaborative group of scientists invested in ensuring the success of our junior faculty. The campus contains both the school of medicine and arts and sciences.
We are hiring three junior faculty! Stony Brook University Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology has two searches, one of which is seeking two faculty in the broad areas of biochem, molecular biology, or cell and developmental biology. apply.interfolio.com/112313
The second search aims to recruit someone using cryo-electron microscopy techniques to explore cutting-edge questions of structure and function. apply.interfolio.com/112312
It was great to be a part of this study!
📢Paper Alert! 📢Super excited to share the latest @bravocorderolab paper. Study led by talented former postdoc and imaging guru @CMondal01. Rini did a titanic job taking advantage of every single imaging technique available. Lets do a Threat 🧵1/9

Happy to share another story from my thesis work in @Martin_Lab_SBU. The MRFs Myod and Myf5 are used for more than just myogenesis during development, they also help establish VEGF expression for endothelial differentiation and angiogenesis. Read more at authors.elsevier.com/a/1fZyQ…

This is a cool movie that @EricPaulissen made for his eLife paper, it's a transverse section of a live zebrafish embryo showing midline angioblast migration. Angioblasts in green, cell membranes in magenta.
Today was a proud PI day, graduate student @EricPaulissen did a fantastic job at his dissertation defense. Eric’s dissertation focused on understanding how somites affect the development of the closely associated midline blood vessels – the dorsal aorta and cardinal vein.
Finally, Eric also made a skeletal muscle specific nitroreductase to ablate skeletal muscle as another attempt to disrupt somites. This line didn’t make it into the first two stories, but Eric showed that it can be a useful tool for muscle regeneration studies.
This is also now on bioRxiv. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… Congrats Eric on a highly successful graduate career!
