Back in the spring of 2023, my bosses at Fox reached out and asked if I’d ever consider doing play-by-play for bowling. Admittedly, I had never thought about it, but was always told by my parents to “say yes” to an opportunity! Additionally, my Grandpa Frank had done Bowling for Dollars at Buckeye Lanes back in the day. Without that “yes,” I wouldn’t have met Randy Pedersen and learned about what a special sport bowling is and the people in it. Randy is as much a part of the soul of bowling as anybody. When the man walked into a bowling center, people gravitated to him and chanted his name.
The man won 13 times on the PBA Tour, was in the movie Kingpin and commentated the PBA on television for over 25 years. When I got my first assignment for the PBA on Fox in May of 2023, I was beyond nervous. Then, Randy walked into the lanes. He said “we’re here to have fun and here to tell people about the best sport in the world.” He put me at ease. He taught me SO MUCH about the sport. He would talk to any fan and he treated every bowler on tour with respect and dignity. Ten minutes before our first show, Randy turned to me and said, “I’m heading out for a heater (cigarette). Be right back.” He came back in, sat down, and we talked about the sport that he loved for two hours on television.
He didn’t take himself too seriously and we could rip each other in good fun. We traveled the country the next two years calling the PBA Tour for Fox. From lobster dinners in Maine to a Texas Roadhouse in Indiana to a casino with Mrs. Fanta in Washington state, Randy treated my family & friends like his own. He gave me advice and helped lighten the mood after my dad passed away. All while doing a Hall of Fame job and making us smile. Randy, my friend, thank you for helping me understand more what bowling and broadcasting are all about. Thank you for helping me and millions others learn more about bowling. And thank you for making us laugh every step of the way. You were truly an extraordinary partner in the booth & a great friend.
Safe home, Randy. Thinking of your family, countless friends and the entire @PBATour community tonight.
Stephen Root on NewsRadio should’ve won like five Emmys and therefore should be mentioned over “Widow’s Bay”
"Widow's Bay" Emmer winner Stephen Root will appear in #GTA6 as a drug trafficker named Brian Heder.
The character is described as “a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the [Leonida] Keys. Still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, Brian’s been around long enough to let others do his dirty work.”

If I had billions of dollars I would not be responding to “Cyclone Larry” on Twitter

It was exactly 7 days between the injunction and resolution of what was a very complicated legal (and human) issue. Texas Tech never sued anybody or did anything but follow the rules and the law. But yet, in that 7 days, certain idiot Big 12 coaches and athletic directors, who had no idea what was going on, ran their mouths just because they wanted to take a cheap shot at Texas Tech. Most of the conference was great, and kept things private.
But I will repeat what I’ve said several times… We remember who the jackwagons were, and we will give them what they have coming to them.
No conference should have more than one AQ (they should all have one though)

In an expanded 24 team CFP, give the G6 2 AQs, M2 3 AQs, P2 7 AQs, leaving 2 at-large for ND and 1 conf to get an additional team into the playoff.
7-7-3-3-2-2
This will work until 2031 when the P2 breaks away to form its own Tier 1 division and CFP.
Between this dude and Cody Campbell, signing off with “spot that ball” seems to be an attempt to deflect from a horrible take that precedes it
The court has ruled in favor of the athletes! Again, they are not professional football players circling back after years in the NFL. They are college players who were told, by the NCAA, that they were done. So they took the only door that was open, only to watch the NCAA change the lock behind them.
I am sure these athletes are relieved and anxious to get back in the game!
Let’s spot the ball! #GeauxTigers!
A separate G6 playoff and pro/rel are both awful ideas that need to be never mentioned again
Embrace non-FBS
NEW: Several SEC programs are exploring adding former NFL players and 2022 recruits ahead of the season, despite the focus on LSU, @PeteNakos reports.
SEC rosters must be finalized 24 hours before kickoff.

I think college programs should stay as college programs
I will say it again @USL_HQ should be making a major push to have colleges join as pro clubs in their pyramid. This would be the kind of signing a USL-C team would trumpet.
